New CSF radiator is installed in the car and I am hoping to get a bit of seat time in it this week.

Took the car for a drive last night and as you could have guessed no more leaking coolant. Tune is probably 90% complete at this point. Still waiting to finish this tank of 91 so I can put in a fresh tank of 94 and finish the tune.

Only major issue I am currently battling is a vibration related to an engine rpm of 4000 or more and decel after running my car higher up in the rpms. The vibration can be felt in the steering wheel as a buzzing sort of noise. I figured the issue was that something was rubbing exhaust related and sure enough the downpipe was touching the steering column. I fixed the clearance and took it for another drive and the car made this horrible noise of parts dragging on the ground (no parts dragging on the ground). I realigned the downpipe again and now I am going to tighten up all the drivetrain underneath the car and slowly go through all the suspect items (engine mounts could be worn and causing the exhaust to contact things, PPF might not be aligned properly, drivestaft / rear dif might have excessive play, some sort of damage related to the transmission and clutch assembly).

Hopefully this is a simple fix...... On another note I bought something special for the car.

Looks like the simple fix was the solution. I adjusted the downpipe to have equal clearance with the transmission and steering column again and double checked the rest of the exhaust as well. I also double checked the PPF to make sure the transmission sat at the right height. In doing so I had to take off a bunch of chassis bracing as well. I reinstalled everything and took it for a short drive and sure enough all the new vibration is gone (it still has vibrations cause racecar). Not sure which component was the problem but obviously something was not aligned or seated properly.

Took the car for another drive last night and near the end of the drive started to hear more rattling. The resonator was resting on part of the chassis bracing so I took a 5lb hammer to the piece to give me a bit more clearance. Now I am on the hunt for 3 polyurethane exhaust hangers to hopefully keep things a bit more stable.

What size hangers are they? I have some Kartboy ones that I am too lazy to sell.

Would they even work.

Anyways. Sick picture.

The hole size is 12mm the same size as most Subarus. Are they the standard length ones?

Torque Solutions sells assorted sizes of hangers
The 3 is raw.  Lighter than more agile.  The 6 probably feels like a 747.  And by that contrast, my STI probably feels like the Hindenburg.  So GR's are like the International Space Station.

There are lots available. I think I found 2 locally so I am going to pick up those and see how she sits. So far everything seems ok since I did some further clearance but I want to make sure I have very little movement in the future. New motor mounts and some poly hangers should do the trick.

Also new suspension is in the mail and should be here next week.

Did a little more track prep last night. Changed the transmission fluid to Motul Gear 300 and replaced the rear differential fluid with Tomei 80w90. The rear differential starts to make a bunch of noise(more noise than usual as mechanical clutch type lsd are already noisy) when the fluid needs to be replaced. Seems to be every 5000km mixed with track days. I also swapped in my track pads to see how they performed and wow  8). The initial bite is intense to the point I locked up my 200TW tires with very little pedal effort. Definitely need to let the tires warm up and be nice on the brakes until I get some heat in them. I will report how the Stoptech Race pads work on the track. I am still a little hesitant because they are a lot cheaper than most of the big offerings available (Gloc, Ferodo, Ect.) but it is Stoptech so I shouldn't be too concerned.

I am still waiting for my low boost actuator to come in so I can dial in my electronic boost control solenoid. My timing is still a bit conservative and my fueling is nearly dialed in so the tune is almost there. Here is a virtual dyno on my current setup compared to last years setup. Same road similar conditions. The numbers are numbers but the big thing to note is just the comparison from last year to this year. Makes a huge amount more power in the top end after 6000rpm compared to last year.

I don't want this to sound like I'm being a prick, but isn't that a lot of low end trade off? It seems like you've lost a lot of area under that curve. I guess if the car is going to live at 5500+ plus it's worth it though. Is red line 7000?

EDIT: Never mind, I misread that plot. I'll leave my post up so I can look like an idiot.

Good observation but I did this graph to sort of show what wastegate only pressure would look like verse when I actually tune the boost with a solenoid. Right now the wastegate probably cracks at a few psi which is why the boost is lazy. Once I tune the boost properly I will likely have full boost around 3000 rpm with boost starting to build at 2200rpm or so. Redline is 7000rpm.

With the addition of the new boost solenoid are you going to lower boost at all? It looks like you are making a few more pounds throughout the rev range when compared to the supercharger.

The supercharger made peak boost at redline and depending on the day it was 10-11 psi. The max boost between the 2 systems is pretty similar but the EFR definitely moves more air.

Right now boost sort of peaks at 11-11.5 psi. I will probably aim to tune it for 10psi which gives me a little buffer when the weather changes or boost starts to creep.

For those interested BW has a turbo sizing tool. It is pretty accurate and neat if you like this sort of thing. Here is a plot I made for my setup.

Miata survived its first official shake down this past weekend. Engine performed well with zero cooling issues related to oil or coolant. Best part is no leaks from the engine, transmission or coolant this year so that is a big win. Car is going to take a bit getting use to the extra power and braking. Car feels really strong and with the new suspension coming in the next few weeks it should be pretty fantastic. I ordered a new steering wheel a few days before the track day and it arrived a day before the event. I went from a 350mm wheel to a 330mm OMP Suede wheel. I also took off the quick release so it sits a little further away from my body which feels a bit more natural because my current hub is the standard length.

Unfortunately I couldn't take pictures of my own car on track but I got a bunch of other people. Overall it was a fun day on track and best of all hanging out with WSC friends.

Another successful track day in the books with no major issues. I set a new personal best (1:32:XX) and slowly getting more confident with the car. I still have a lot to learn as far as driving goes but that is also half the fun as well.

Here is a video of one of my laps. It is definitely interesting to see positioning from the 3rd person and how I can improve going forward.

Honestly its so much setup to get it to work correctly and half the time one item isn't working properly. Setting the spot metering to "on" is annoying because I physically have to turn it on from the camera which means taking it off then putting it back on. Then you need to export the video to the phone and sync it to the data. Typically I never get the lap timing app, my external GPS and my GoPro to ever work properly so for once this actually worked.
