Looking for 2008 - 2012 Forester for Android HU Sponsorship
« on: October 18, 2018, 08:25:31 PM »
Looking for someone interested in receiving and installing this Android Head Unit in their 2008-2012 Forester (OR) if someone knows if this similar model MIGHT fit a previous gen. (such as 2004?)

https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Idoing-1Din-9-Car-Radio-GPS-Multimedia-Player-Android8-0-7-1For-Subaru-Forester-2008-2012/2341287_32941273195.html?spm=2114.12010611.8148356.9.582a1067V8rTae

- This is a sponsorship direct from the manufacturer in China (yes, Aliexpress, China haha..) As such, I require to film the installation of the product on your car.
Preferably we would work together on the install in my heated / well lit garage. Time-frame in the next several weeks upon receipt.
In a few weeks I would also need to meet up with you and you may be needed to help with a brief "review" video. (Ie. Your thoughts / opinion on the unit after a few weeks of use).

- The only cost you would have would be to cover any import duties/ shipping fees: TBD at this time, I expect to be able to confirm after this weekend.
Also, I'd love if you bring me a case of Corona ;)  I'm NOT getting paid for this from the manufacturer. The only incentive I gain from this is the YouTube video and exposure I can benefit from it.

Please message me however you want (on here, IG, FB, etc..)

Also I'm in Calgary, and if you live elsewhere that's okay too, you just have to come to me haha! ;D

Need you to confirm this will fit your vehicle exact...

Aren't those Foresters the same console as a GR? I'm guessing not since you didn't list it as an option, but probably more of those owners and I always though the dashs were the same.

edit: This thing looks cool though!

Still kind of looking for someone, I have a few PM's and potentials but none for certain, and looking at photos I'm not sure. This is a bit confusing because it seems some different versions/ gens of the Forester even for those years may or may not fit ??  I'm not even sure..

Also, it's now going to come with an include a full rear view camera setup + an OBD2 scanner connection we will get to setup :)

Won't fit SG Foresters pre 2008. Our SG Foresters have the vents on the top of our center console.

This should fit in Foresters between 2009-2013 though because the 2014 Forester center consoles begin to look something like this:

whereas 2009-2013 looks something like this:

Ended up installing the unit in a 2008 2010 Forester, which was a perfect fit. Took less than an hour to swap out, just a few tabs, some screws, and plug n play the harness right into the back! The microphone isn't that great (maybe got got a crappy one or maybe just wired in a weird position, but still not great).

Unit is super nice though, if you wanna check out the install here it is :) If you leave a comment that would help me lots so I can maybe do future work with this company again, I'd be very thankful!

That's a 2008?! It looks nothing like my 2008, but a lot like the 2009 I had ;)

Fitment looks awesome, and that install seems super easy after the amount of uckfaying around I've been doing with my HU. Steering wheel controls must have a separate module/harness?
May have to look into this, pretty impressive!

Steering wheel controls are straight plug n play and work! But, they do not work with the bluetooth / phone however!! Just the normal controls/ radio etc. No other module needed.

Looks pretty slick. Mind you a double DIN would fit right in there, so I'd be curious about the cost. Fitment seems great though.
