They don't ship those out of the states...  But maybe our resident American Aussie could help.

Just sitting there test-shifting it, is it weighty enough for your liking?

I think it adds a quite a bit of character to the interior. I like it. It's like why I wanted a blue 5sp Cobb knob but they rare and discontinued.

Ooh, that looks much better.  Also, now that I see the knob in relation to the entire car, I understand why it's blue.  Looks good!

If your knob is blue it's because your grip is too tight

So in typical Lotus form, both my turn signal housings were broken.  I noticed when one of them slumped out of the receiver for it. These tabs break on all of these cars. Of course replacements are worth more than I'd care to spend on the repair. Another bodgy R(repair)IY.

Quality bodge. What causes the problem, bumper flexes and the tabs don't?

Really It's just that the clips are poorly designed. It's a pressure fit clip, and the clip under constant stress begins to crack under the tension.

Got a chance to play in the garage today,  and was playing around with the fitment of tires,  and tire selection for the upcoming season. Firstly I want to shout out to SpecR as they gave me a couple tires in the sizes I'm choosing between to test fit.  Always the best customer service from SpecR, and Cole is da man for helping me out getting them fitted!

Much of the next bit is just for me to keep track of what I tested, and easy for me to reference back to. Read along if you like, otherwise stick with looking at the pictures.

Front running tire in both sizes is the G Force Rival S 1.5.
https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+Rival+S+1.5

So far I'm unimpressed with my life choices on the wheels,  but that may change. stay tuned and have a look.

Firstly the tire weight savings (or expenditures) on the tires.
Stock front 31.4 lbs
Stock rear 36.8 lbs
37's with 225/45's 32 lbs
37's with 205/50's 31.2 lbs

The goal was a square setup with the ability to fully rotate the tires for racing. So a square 225 setup will save me 8.4 lbs total, but all those savings are in the rear and the front will actually be heavier by 1.2 lbs for the pair. The square 205 setup will save me 11.6 lbs.

Fortunately the 225 setup has about an inch clearance lock to lock on the fronts.

I'm not thrilled with the poke that the 225's have on the front though.
Tires by Duane Jacka, on Flickr

Although the amount of tire up front I'm impressed with. Left is the 225, centre is stock, and right is the 205.
Tires by Duane Jacka, on Flickr

205's poke much less, and at the time of writing this, I have to assume there will be about the same clearance lock to lock.
Tires by Duane Jacka, on Flickr

205's on the rear are in the range of diminishing returns,  but it's very close.

Finally the looks.

No.

But i need a set of wheels with a front width of more than 5.5inches.

My zx6r's rear tires were wider then my lotus's fronts

I'm thinking I'm going to keep both sets.... at least for the first season of autox. Since I'm playing around with the gear ratios with the smaller wheels (and tires), I want to put a season under me before I commit to selling them.

If I decide to sell them, you're the first name I'm pinging.

Still tire shopping and logging all this down for my own records.

I found the Toyo R888R comes in a 225/50 15 and I used a GT86 groups visualizer for comparing the stock size to the new setup. Here is the Toyo in a 225 square setup. I'll be listing the other tires I find in this size, as I do prefer to run street legal tires as I'm not a "change the tire on race day" kind of guy.

Given the size I'm shooting for, here are the new frontrunners.

What I may be sacrificing in best overall Autocross tire,  I gain in proper sizing (Important for the traction control). Here is the BF Goodrich G-Force Rival S 1.5 in 225/45 as a comparison.

Finally warm enough to roll around on the concrete a little.

Also did this conversion a few weeks back. Only half though as I need to turn the car around... and I'm waiting for the front street to have a little less snow to ensure i can get back up the steep driveway.

I was so focused on the wheels, I had a really hard time figuring out what changed.

Funny.  I had a buddy pop by today and without telling him, he noticed the scoops immediately from the driveway. Just depends where your mind is at the time I guess.

The cost per aesthetic improvement in the gas cap blows those scoops out of the water.  But the scoops are super cool too.

Totally agree. I also believe that Carbon fibre is excessivly expensive.
