Would a drill pump work for that application?
Syphoning it worked well, but after refilling it with new oil, and testing her out, the sound persisted.
Next up was a job that I am almost without words describing its difficulty... Removing the serpentine belt. after an hour of fussing, and more expletives than I can count, the belt finally came off, and when I ran her, the noise was gone.
Yay!
I think I've narrowed the hunt for the noise down to an amazingly difficult to change tensioner pulley assembly (yes... It's an entire assembly to do a tensioning job) as the pulley on there makes a slight bearing grindy sound, and a pulley that I assume would be where a power steering pump would be in a Matrix GTX or Celica. The latter wobbles laterally by a couple mm, but is deathly quiet when spinning.
