Endlinks
« on: November 22, 2018, 04:17:31 pm »
Alright, before I go ahead and drop some cash on endlinks I figured I would verify which ones to order. When I purchased it the rear sway bars were never hooked up so I have absolutely no idea if I need the c style or long I.

I believe these ones will work, but /i would like someone to verify.

I would also like to know if sway bars on a 2004 sti would work with these endlinks and my Forester.

Thanks!

I'm 99% sure you need the c-style.

The I style has the endlink side on top of the endlink rather than the bottom.

Also, the 04 STi sway bars will be wider, so the endlink will sit inside, rather than outside, as your pic shows, which from what I remember, is fine.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.

Rear of the car? C style is also my vote. Lube them with a silicone based lube. No petroleum else they'll swell/crack.

C-style eh.. I've replaced these a couple times now, assumed it was because the SuperPro 24mm bar was just too beefy.

Do you have the Whiteline heavy duty box mount things too? I think they're highly recommended.

The mount on his forester is under the arm, the mount on our forester is above the arm. Which is why we have the standard dogbone style and he needs the C type. I assume when they did the sti conversion they also put the whole rear subframe from the sti in.

Looks like my laterals(?) are off a v7 wrx maybe sti. They are the same style as your old bugeye with the c-style endlinks. On any other forester or 2004+sti they are the long I style.

The current endlinks are from the forester orginally, which is why they don't work I figure

STi arms are I style. I think it's the WRX that's C-style.

I am almost certain that v7 stis came with the c style. Paging dr.beans for confirmation. I found "v7" painted marked in them. Could mean they are from a WRX, but everything else seems to be from a sti

Peep this picture I whipped up. Photoshop skillz. Cyan would be the dogbone (interference) and gold would be the C-bone.

I'll tell you hwhat, getting that bolt through the endlink and clevis was easy on the rear sway, it was a itchbay on the front sway. GNP has stiiiiiiiiiiiiiff bushings.

Sti, V7, Forester, This, That... Doesn't really matter. It's about interference vs non-interference. One could swap out the rear lateral links (like SpdDmn) and then the I's would fit. In this application, the mounts are beneath the lateral link so the C-style would fit. In the end, the forces here act in the same fashion.

You can always grab a set of C's from Pick & Pull (or someone's parts bin) and see how they fit before going and dropping coin on aftermarket ones.

It's the size of hammer that determines fitment :D
