08 xt hood scoop mystery (tracking down the right splitter)
« on: September 19, 2018, 08:52:00 am »
I have an 08 forester xt, which the previous owner was nice enough to upgrade. One of these upgrades was a hood scoop “from an 04 forester.” Now that I have upgraded to the sti intercooler, the splitter needs to be upgraded....but to which one?

I *think* I need this one, but don’t want to throw money at the problem until I know I am getting the right part.

The one you linked seems to be more designed for thicker aftermarket intercoolers but also can be used for the STI intercooler, it just might not be the best fit.

This one is a better option of you plan to stick with the sti intercooler.

There is an oem part number floating out there that works from the jdm fsti's, but you'd likely pay a fair bit of coin to import it through a third party as it wouldn't be a usdm part number and the local dealers in Calgary anyways won't order in jdm specific items.

I have the Process West one you linked. It's not designed for the GR TMIC (my intercooler overhangs a little) but should match up to yours (which is GD STI, right?)

I believe it is, seems like either would work then, any specific advantage for either brand, or sheet metal is sheet metal?

Edit: grimmspeed reached out and their model is $50 less #fundingsecured

I've had both, and prefer the quality of the Grimmspeed. What I didn't realize when ordering it, was that it's much lighter as well.
