And yeah, watched the series over the weekend. Pretty awesome insight - it made me realize how many drivers are fighting for their careers on a regular basis. For 2019:
-If Grosjean starts crashing again, I don't think he'll stay in for the full season. Guenther made a risky decision keeping him around. I think Grosjean can be very fast, but he gets into a bad headspace really easily.
-If Ricciardo consistently outperforms Hulk, it'll be Hulk's last year.
-At Williams, it's the team fighting for its life as opposed to the drivers. Claire needs to either step aside, or replace Paddy Lowe as the starting point of a major team rebuild.
-Curious to see what happens at Ferrari. If Leclerc outperforms Vettel, I think Vettel will retire - especially if Leclerc wins the championship. If Vettel outperforms Leclerc by some margin... not sure what Leclerc's future holds. But I honestly expect Leclerc to beat Vettel this year.
Also waiting for that sweet, sweet Kimi/Alfa gear.
-After watching, yeah, I'm actually a little surprised Haas committed to Grosjean again, Steiner doesn't seem super stoked on him.
-Ric/Hulk will be an interesting battle. Even if Ric wins out, I think they'll keep Hulk if he shows improvement as well. But if he still doesn't manage any podiums and Ric does? Yeah, he gone...
-Lowe already has one foot out the door, I think the real problem might be Claire and the culture they've got. Team started trending down after Newey left, but were still a decent mid-fielder. They really started to slip hard after Patrick Head stepped away fully though, didn't they?
-I don't think LeClerc will beat Vettel this season. He'll hold his own though, I'm sure, and end up more consistent than Kimi was last year.
