It's a huuuuge lot. Coarse surface with large aggregate which is rather slippery. I bet it's deadly in the rain.

I mean you beat a Van Diemen kit racer by four seconds PAX in a Ford Fiesta.

So this happened yesterday:

And this is why my tires hum... I never bothered to take them off after the last AutoX. I hardly drive during the week anyway.

One of my brand new key fobs died on me the other day. By "died" I mean it was playing up and only working intermittently and then one day wouldn't start the car. I might try replacing the battery to see if that fixes it. I expected better from a new fob though.

Next event Aug 24-25. The club threw up an event on Aug 3-4 but I was unable to attend because I'd made other plans... Whiplash was in town. I would have liked the extra seat time but marital bliss is more important and living apart means every minute together is precious.

Pop the board out of the fob. Maybe the SMD button is borked or intermittently contacting the PCB. Happened to my Subaru fob.

Proximity is an issue. Presumably that's not a contact problem?

Good point. I thought mine was proximity but I guess moving closer and repeatedly smashing the button obfuscate the actual problem. lol.

Some slightly heavier wheels turned up yesterday. I figure they might help me lay down the power a little better. Right now I can't find the smooth exit and the RPF1's are lighting up pretty much every time I touch the go pedal.

Please don't cheap out on painting wheel weights.  Powdercoat is the way to go.

13/144 at the event last weekend. Cuntagare joined me to thrash my car. We had fun. Drove fast. Made clunking noises in second gear, and itshay. I was quite pleased to place as high as I did in this club. Still aiming for a top ten.

Changed engine oil a week prior at 3300 miles (that's after 7 months ownership... I hardly drive the car). Sample going off to Blackstone Labs. Changed transmission oil at the same mileage. Notchiness is gone. Transmission feels silky, like the skin on my testicles. Also sending a sample to Blackstone... transmission oil, not testicle skin.

Went for a ride in the top guys FiST and was blown away by the difference in handling. He's running re-valved front koni's and his car corners much better than mine... Cagare and I were struggling to keep my car from oversteering in longer corners. The BFG's like to slip and we didn't want to drop the pressure so low that we were losing speed cornering, but we were struggling to go fast and stay pointed in the direction we wanted. Anyway, hot cash injection inbound for re-valved fronts.

The weather on Sunday was much cooler and shittier than Saturday so we threw on some brand new RE-71R's I had laying around. They're so much more predictable than Rivals in the cold and I'll probably go back to Rivals when it heats up in Summer.

BFG's have a $150 rebate, so I caved to consumerism and bought a fresh set.

Pahk your cah

Oh, and we ran out of brake pads.

Much stomping, little stopping. So G-Loc R6's inbound.

Drove fast. Made clunking noises in second gear, and itshay.

Clunking only happened once with an aggressive 1-2 shift.

BFGs liked some yaw but was hard to predict how much. Odd being able to hold a slide in a FWD car. In the other FiST it was clear that the front dampers allow more grip in the rears mid corner, basically falsifying higher spring rates in the front. That other FiST was able to maintain so much mid corner speed comparatively probably gaining a second or just under.

Holy crap that brake fade though. It wasn't even that hot but those front brakes did not want to stop after 4 runs. Had to substantially increase brake points for corner entry and I overshot them a few times, which I think was leading to increases in times. With better brake pads, and front dampers I think the car can easily be top ten, in PAX.

Warms the heart to hear Cagare joined you.  That course looks huge.  How long did a run take?  What class are you in and would re-valves + brakes bump you up?

Fly me down there and I'll get a proper picture of you tripoding.
