Amazon changes their prices more often than gas stations on some items.
It was $15 with Prime 2 day shipping when I ordered back in the fall.
Link to the $8 OEM filters on Ebay?
Rock auto has them for $5 for cheap, $15 for the denso which is likely the oem supplier, or $20 for the one that comes with the fancy subaru sticker. Personally for cabin air filters I only buy the carbon/charcoal filters, they usually run in the range of $10-15. If you've used charcoal vs non charcoal filters on a respirator at work you'll quickly understand the difference it makes in cutting out smells and contaminants. "oem" doesn't really concern me too much when it comes to cabin air filters.
Also interestingly K&N started selling reusable cabin air filters recently. Though they make me a bit hesitant, as they likely don't offer much more than standard particle filtration.
I just want to go on record and say it took me less than 4 minutes to change the cabin filter in my new-to-me Legacy... compare that to my 2005 Forester....
The SG forester is a real headache to access, you pretty much have to pull the whole passenger lower dash out. Should be just a hatch in the glove box like most other cars.
