Let's start a new thread for the 19/20 season.

Who's got passes? Who's going for opening weekend? Who's got a new setup?

I will be in Banff November 8th long weekend for Sunshine opening. Staying at the Canalta Lodge with a couple friends.

Also put together a new board this year, something a little more directed to all mountain and carving.

Salomon First Call with Nitro Team bindings.

Usual pass to Big White, but plan on skiing a few other resorts as well. Also booked 2 nights at the Jumbo Pass Cabin in November.

I broke my 18/19 Head Kore 105's last year at Revy and got mailed the 19/20 version under warranty prior to release. Only put one or two days on them at the end of the season last year so looking forward to getting on them this year.

I haven't updated my gear since 2008... Still rocking my Burton Mission General Lee bindings with locking highbacks which probably date back to who knows when....

No pass for me; I'll probably pick up a Louise Card and a Sunshine Card like I have in the past. I think I bought both on Black Friday last year because they were on sale.

Bought new Union Force bindings late 17/18 season and have been enjoying them. My Salomon Craft is my most current board but it's pretty beaten up and I've never really enjoyed riding it as much as my Capita Quiver Killer. I'm thinking about replacing it but am hesitant just because of how few times I went last year and spending the money for it.

My enthusiasm for riding took a pretty big hit last year, not really sure why, but I'm hoping to get some good days in this year to revive it.

I'm probably going to pick up a sunshine card on Black Friday again if they have another sale as well. If not, I'll just pay full price shortly thereafter. Hoping to get at least 10 days on snow this year.

I rented a pair of skis for the first time ever at the end of last season and actually figured things out pretty quickly. I felt pretty confident moving my way up mountains at Sunshine on them and even ended my day at goats eye for 4-5 laps. Hoping to get a ski set up going this year and splitting my time between a board and skis.

Anyone know of any good sites having deals? Looking for hardgoods - skis, snowboards, bindings (for both), goggles (maybe), and boots for skis.

Pretty well every site or shop is having sales right now due to all the new 19/20 stuff now being on the shelves.

If you aren't opposed to buying used I would go to Totem, I got my entire ski set up there last year for nearly nothing (K2 skis, Marker Griffin bindings and Full Tilt boots).

Sundance had their demo sale Oct 5, they might still have some stuff around.

Snow Valley has their ski swap on Nov 2.
They're going to park their car over there. You're going to park your car over here. Get it?

Just an FYI, Sunshine came out with their super card yesterday. Alberta/BC riders now have a few options for specialty passes.

1) Sunshine Super Card: - $103.95 CAD - 1st, 4th, and 7th day free at any of the following resorts. Most other days are discounted by $25 or $15. There are blackout dates on this card.
Marmot Basin
Sunshine Village
Revelstoke Mountain Resort

2) The Mountain Collective: - $508.03 CAD - 2 days at any of the following resorts (no blackout). 50% off all additional days at single window ticket price:
Alta Ski Area
Arapahoe Basin
Aspen Snowmass
Banff Sunshine
Big Sky Resort
Coronet Peak + The Remarkables
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort
Lake Louise
Mammoth Mountain
Mt Buller
Niseko United
Revelstoke Mountain Resort
Snowbird
Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows
Sugarbush Resort
Taos Ski Valley
Thredbo Alpine Village
Valle Nevado

3) Full Ikon Pass - $1,479 CAD (No blackout dates)
Unlimited days at a bunch of US resorts.
7 days total at any combination of Lake Louise, Sunshine, and Norquay
7 days at Cypress Mountain
7 days at Revelstoke Mountain Resort
7 days at a bunch of other US resorts
7 days in Australia next summer
7 days in Japan
7 days in Switzerland

4) Ikon Base Pass - $1,079 CAD (This one has blackout dates)
Unlimited days a slightly fewer US resorts
5 days total at any combination of Lake Louise, Sunshine, and Norquay
5 days at Cypress Mountain
5 days at Revelstoke Mountain Resort

5 days at a bunch of other US resorts
5 days in Australia next summer
5 days in Japan
5 days in Switzerland

Questions to ask yourself:

How many days do I think I will ride this year? If it is under 5, go with the super card. Anything more than 15, go with one of the Ikon cards. In between, read on...
Will I plan to ride anywhere in the US this winter? If yes, mountain collective is probably your card. If no, how many days do you plan on riding? If less than 8, probably go with the super card. 8 or more, consider the Mountain Collective.
Do I plan on riding more than two days each at Revelstoke, Lake Louise, and Sunshine? Is it more than 4 days total at each resort? Go with an Ikon card.

Did I get all of that correct? Maybe? Well, I hope it helps. I still don't know what i'm going to do. All depends on if I go to Montana in January or not...

Even if you plan on riding Sunshine ONCE the Super Card still saves you $25 as lift passes are now $127 at Sunshine, which in my opinion is ridiculous.

Lift ticket prices have gotten insane. I'll definitely miss having corporate passes to Marmot when I lived in Edson. Hoping to get a few days of riding this year.

I haven't updated my gear since 2012 and my skis are getting tired so looking into a new pair of sticks. Debating between Armada ARV 106, Faction Candide 2.0 or ON3P Jeffrey 108. My Salomon Shoguns kind of suck at everyone so hoping to get a proper freestyle orientated all mountain ski

Yea, lift pass prices are getting out of hand as of late. I can understand paying a premium for resorts like Whistler etc. but for Sunshine and Lake Louise, come on...

I have only been skiing for one year but I plan on buying ON3P's if I decide to keep skiing. The only thing making me choose ON3P is their team riders are uckfaying rad haha.

Are you fully set on a true twin-tip setup? What type of terrain do you mainly ride? What bindings are you pairing with?

Wow, day passes are up to $127 now? That's insane. After gas and food, 1 day would be $300 for the wife and I.

Has anyone seen how much the 2 for 1 tickets at Costco are? Do they still do those? It's been a few years, but the last time I got those, it was $160 for 2 tickets.

I've ridden on a few different setups that my friends run which is why I want to go in that direction. I literally ride a bit of everything (moguls, groomers, tree runs, park, etc) which is why I'm looking for a kind of do it all ski. Don't really want to bother having multiple setups. I haven't looked too much into bindings yet but I've had some pretty good experience with Marker in the past

That is asking a lot for a one ski quiver.

Bent Chetlers?

I am very happy with my Marker Griffons.  Stiff, and responsive.

BCs or K2 Mindbender 116C are what come to mind. Both of those are in contention to replace my original K2 Pettitors, which also have Marker Griffons and have given me no issues.

I would love to try out the BCs.  But they are definitely more ski than I would need.

Currently on:
Rossi Soul 7s for days with snow / my all mountain ski.
Atomic Vantage 90s for early season skiing / days where there has been no fresh snow for a while.

Both are good in powder, on the bumps and groomed runs.  But the Soul 7s are clearly better in powder.

In deep powder I need a bit more float, and thus considering the BCs.  Had a few days of skiing in France this January where there was 2-3 of powder and the Soul 7s punished me.  Skiing was amazing, but would have been a bit less work with more ski underfoot.

If I could only have 1 ski than the Soul 7s one length up would be the ski for me with my skill set.

I actually have Pettitors and Hellbents and I never find I have never needed the Hellbents. They are destined to become pristine wall ornaments. I am 6’2” and weigh around 150lbs.

I've used Marker Griffons myself and they've given me no issues. I'll add the BCs to my list. I used to be a big park skier when I was younger so I'm used to riding full twins center mounted which is why I'm looking for a freestyle orientated all mountain ski.
