i should have made it out to that!  argh.  I didn't know until saturday at 11pm that I could make the sunday.  was it fun?

It was wintery enough. ;)

We have to submit the security list to Namao ahead of time, it's a little late to only decide the night before. :P

I _can_, however, make sure you're on the security list, though. :P

Replaced my "BUZZER KEYLESS AY".  ;)

Subaru part #: 88021SA001 for anyone else with a WRX that doesn't "chirp" when you lock/unlock your car.

Thanks to mars636 for tossing some parts for me onto his latest Touge Tuning order!

Installed rear diff bushings:

See the voids & flex in the stock bushings?

Compared to the poly ones:

We replaced the transmission crossmember bushings too:

Props:

Thanks again mars636 & snackers for the help with the bushings!  That's 2 more things I can cross off my "ToDo" list. ;)

you could start doing my bushings. How much of a difference do they make?

Great, they just feel more "connected", and being about the last ones in the drivetrain I hadn't done they made launching tons easier!   O0

More Winter Auto-x!

(I stuffed it sideways through a snowbank & way off course.)
^--- (But I don't have a repair bill for a new rear end, do I?  ;))

Winter tires get pretty squirmy & greasy once they're hot.  :o

What's this gold coloured aluminum?

Swapping wheels back to front sucks, but I'd rather have full braking power...

Youch, that sucks.  What happened?

Slippery, downhill freeflow lane.

The car slipped, the driver over corrected, and we drove into/onto the curb with both nearside wheels.

I'm missing some camber on that front wheel, and the steering is of course off because of the resulting change in toe...

NO excuses! It's cause you got no skillz sucka!
Camber ain't gonna make a difference when you're granny shifting instead of double-clutchin'.

BUT...
Sorry to hear about it, looks rather serious.
Does anything look bent? (ie. suspension wise)
Any close ups of the wheel that lost the seal?

Something is bent/slipped, but nothing visible to me while I had my head in the wheel well while it was up on the scissor jack.

It didn't lose it's seal, it has a 1" hole ripped out've the sidewall.

I'll take more damning pics once I'm at home and using more than just an iPhone.

I figured that wording was chosen carefully, they are just wheels, single vehicle incident and
fairly minor damage. Good thing we know how to work on our own cars, saves a ton of cash.

Hopefully the knuckle is ok, a slightly bent strut will still live ok for the winter.

Thanks to snackers for the loan of your Enkei EVO5 with "falken awesomes"!

Who can help me verbally diagnose this before I have time to put the car up on jackstands?

The steering is off:
wheel to the left = driving straight = right wheel toe'd out?

What would've bent to create toe out on that side?

That should be the case.

Likely tie-rod end/tie rod but could be a strut or control arm.
I merge wire harnesses for swaps.  PM me if interested.

But wouldn't things being taco'd on that side make it shorter? And therefore toe in?  The tie-rod is infront afterall...

Damn, WTB one right front corner off an 05 WRX...

How far off center Grant ?

A lot of times the rack just shifts in its mounts, mind you your 05 should be mounted better than my 02
and should resist sliding sideways when pushed hard.

Lower control arms usually bend easier than knuckles, or simply the force of the impact "slipped" the bolts
between the strut and knuckle and the toe change was from the camber change.
Or a combination of everything ! I can tell pretty quick on the alignment rack but without #'s its too tough
to imagine the point of impact and guess.

Can you take a picture of how far off the steering wheel is ? Sometimes with an impact all it takes is an adjustment to get everything to spring back to normal. The rear could be the issue as well, if the front isnt tracking with the rear then you get a steering wheel off center. Modern alignment racks use the rear as a reference to get the thrust lines of each axle lined up, thats why you always adjust the rear before the front. A small rear toe change has a big effect on the front toe angle.

A lot of times at Toyota a curb touch results in a steering off center, toe angle is out but I can't find anything visibly bent, adjust the toe, warn them about potential future wheel bearing issues and that's it. I know SOMETHING isn't perfect, but I can't pick out what it is.

When I bought my donor car, the tow truck hooked up a hook to the tie rod end on that side and bent it.  The toe was out on that side IIRC, but Jason is the expert on this.
