Intercooler mesh DIY
« on: March 02, 2009, 09:17:55 pm »
So, here goes a local version of my version of someone elses version of this mod.

Step 1: buy mesh (totem was a good deal for me)
Step 2: overlay 2 layers of 1/4 inch mesh (i could have bought 1/8th mesh but it wouldnt be as solid) Forgot to add I soldered them together, but you can do it with zip ties or anything.
Step 3: lay on intercooler and trim all edges to fit, bending them over
Step 4: paint

Total time: 1 hour with a run to tims and a smoke break, with drying time

*mental note, there is someones reflection in that window, and this was taken behind my car install bay when I was alone, and that's not me... wtf?*

So the mesh is held on by the edges being folded over only?  Nice! As for your mental note, you have ghosts in the install bay or someones soul is stuck in your camera and trying to get out. Damn those soul sucking picture boxes!

I did a mod similar to this, but fit the mesh into the scoop itself.

Yeah, the sides are folded and its almost "molded" on the top and bottom to fit.

simple solution!  what did you paint it with?
throw a rock in the air and you'll hit someone guilty

Mine came in black so no painting was necessary.

I painted it with rusoleum black and some satin silver crap for the logo.
