TUNING SOLUTIONS FOR DRIVE BY WIRE NOW
« on: February 06, 2008, 01:00:58 am »
I know a lot of you have been waiting for Cobb to release their new version of software to us. Cobb has approved us and would love to get us going but theirr new software is very buggy still and they are not anytime soon going to release it. This has left us in quite a spot as many of you have accessports. We have come up with another solution and have made it economical that anyone with a Cobb Access Port or for that matter nothing can have a strong look at this tuning method. If you are interested we are having an introductory pricing for the first 5 cars that decide to go this route. PM me for details.

I was thinking the same thing ... the bugeye is definitely throttle-by-cable.

TBC is a mechanical connection whereas DBW is controlled by the ECU.

My 04 is definitely DBW, and it's NOT good for bumper-to-bumper rush hour.

And is Cam tuning open source?

This is not open source. I have various options in the package. I have to be alittle careful what I say out in open forum because of marketting pricing and such. It is very robust package and solid. There is a ton of extras that can be added. I had to find something to replace cobb at this time and that is why we are making this offereing. I will be happy to talk at length with anyone who wants moreinfo. PM me a phone number and I will give you a call and explain anything you want to know. Not trying to be secretive just can't say everything I would like to out in the open.

Cam, without going into details, was the "late February arrival" for the object of interest we spoke about last week (when my car was getting dyno'ed) available now for DBW? Is that what you're talking about here?

No this had nothing to do with standalone equipment. That is still on schedule as planned.

Sorry about all the secrecy I wanted to make sure the deal was final before I went and said what was going on. As you know we wanted to have Cobb software and tune all your Accessports. Cobb has accepted our dealer application but will not sell any software to us as of yet because they are having problems. I have talked to people that know the inside issue and this problem is not going to be solved soon. We know there is a lot of people out there that want to have their vehicle tuned. So our solutions were find another professional product or just do open source tunes. I am still looking at open source but no offence against anyone who uses it this is not a professional product for us. If we ever have trouble their is no support other than hunting for answers on the net. The management at Lightspeed Innovations has talked extensively about this and has agrred that this is not the position we ever want to have one of our clients in. We have walked away from other professional product in the past that offered no support so we feel we have to also. That being said we are going to offer open source tuning in the future but it will be made very clear (signed waivers) and such that we do not necessarily approve of this method but will proceed at the owners risk. It is very hard to walk away from open source as it is free and very economical for all but the lack of support and the possible position it may put us into just makes it seem like an unstable product. I have talked with many about how stable it is and some say it is rock stable other say I have used it but it is deffinately not my preferrance. We have decided that ecutek is going to be the product we offer. We are making it more affordable with an introductory price that includes full licensing so that anyone who has already purchased an Accessport will not be spending more to have their car tuned then if we had the Cobb tuning software. I tried so hard to make the Cobb happen I even tried to buy Subracings license but Cobb had not heard from them and had already blacklisted their license number in the recent Accessport updates. I even tried to get them to reinstate the license by paying for the Cobb software and then buying it from Subracing so that they still felt ok about not releasing new software. No go they wold not budge so if I did buy Subracings license I would still not be able to tune anyones Acessport that had updated it from the Cobb. Have a look at http://www.ecutek.com is the package we are going to be using. It is not the cheapest solution out there as it is not free but I have always been a believer in you get what you pay for. Having talked with a lot of professional Subaru tuners they tell me that until you go standalone this is the next best thing even over Cobb. We are going to make this affordable though so Cobb owners are not out the money they paid for the Cobb. Part of this offer will include an all inclusive dyno package that will see an unlimited number of hours of dyno tuning hours so that our clients have what they came for and that is a perfect tune.  We will also make a racegas tune available as an additional option. Ecutek also offers another option that we will offer at an introductory price and that is Easy Ecu. Not everyone will want this additional package but we will offer it as well. This also gives us the ability of remote support. I have shopped the world for the proper solution and find this to be the very best other than going standalone. I hope this is a solution that will work for anyone who needs tuning and doesn't want to go standalone. Feel free to PM me about more details. Thanks for everyone patience with the whole secrecy until now.

That was what I would've guessed, Ecutek: the complete opposite to Open Source.
That is all I am going to say.
