Do we have any more Vancouver people to really speak of?

I'd say Edmonton, but only if it involves Sypher, Amby and Karaokee.

If we did Jasper, folk from Calgary would most likely have to camp or hotel for sure just to spend time there.
There will be bound to be people who want to make it a day trip.

Or if we did something like that, maybe book a group campground.  That'd be pretty cheap and I'm guessing there would be noise complaints for sure ;)

How about if we break it up into two weekends over the summer/fall?  One in Edmonton and a second one in the mountains someplace?  People could do one or the other or both depending on their location.

Calgary/Red Deer/Edmonton people could hit both easily and if someone is busy with work or something and can't make the first one, they wouldn't have to feel quite so suicidal, as they'd get a second chance?

Just a thought....

Jasper would be nice, and as other people suggested a group camp ground would rock!

I haven't been here that long, but it seems like there's enough of a member base here to do two different meets.  One for the folks up north and one for those of us living in a more southernly location.  Leave the invitations wide open, so people could go to one or both, like someone else had previously mentioned, which would be great considering some people's work schedule's aren't that flexible.

Are there any dates in mind as of yet?

Now which two locations?

Due to busy schedule, i have to say Edmonton and that of course also depends on the date.
Getting ready to go on holidays in a month or so.

Jasper might be another possibility.

Two meets may be "convenient", but then still separates the two northern and southern clans.
I like to get together with the southern folk now and again (mostly cause "now and again" is all I can take of GlennC ;) )

No city is going to be perfect, nor is any time.
But the idea of a SUPER meet, is to get as many together as possible.

Two meets doesn't necessarily separate the two groups. By having one meet, people who could have maybe made one of the 2 meets might not be able to come to the one big one if say it was too far away for just a day trip. Also, I know myself along with others would likely make it to both meets, since who doesn't love subie meets  ;) Trying to find a single date that could work for everyone is often an impossible task, if we had 2 you are more likely to be able to accommodate more people.

Maybe have one that is central to all and most likely would require a overnight stay (ala Jasper) and then have the other one in Sylvan or somewhere more central and easier for a single day trip.

Just an option anyways...

My issue with having two meets is it screws the idea of having a central location. There are already Calgary meets (on wednesdays) which anyone local can come to and every once in a while, something like the SoC meet comes along and people from the surrounding area come (even from Edmonton). If you're gonna have a Supermeet, better to make it a CENTRAL location and then those who want to make the drive can come...

Two meets would mean more people go to each one, but its not a SUPER meet... its an area meet...

my $0.02 anyway

We had it in Edmonton last year so I am fine with it being some where else this year. However I can't take anymore days off this summer because my vacations are already booked. I am gone for Canada day long weekend to Vancouver, and from August 13th to the 24th. So as long as it isn't on any of those days I will do my best to attend.

But because I can't really take additional days off it depends what day it falls on. If it is going to be in a location where I have to spend the night after the meet, it can't be held on a Sunday because I have to get up at 4:30am to be at work on time on Monday.

So if the meet is held Friday night, or Saturday I should be fine to go anywhere that is within a days drive. If it is going to be a Sunday meet it would have to be local (Edmonton/Red Deer/Calgary) for me to attend.

That all being said I would be happy with a Banff meet on a Saturday  :D

We should book a campground, possibly late july for adequate planning, and then make a weekend out of it.  People can come just for a day or camp for a day or two.

I've been thinking of hosting a WSC weekend at our cottage... yea it's a bit far for the Calgarianites, but it's VERY close to Cold Lake, about an hour 1/2 from Edmonton and about the same from Ft. Mac.

Camping would be FREE... I wonder how many cars, and tents we can jam in the yard...

The location is Long Lake... there is a Provincial Park there too, for those that would rather stay there.

If I can't pull this off... my vote is Jasper.

I was up there this weekend, My brother was in Vegas, so we had his two little monsters... there were 8 grand kids in total.

The roof is sheeted, I helped bring a ton of shingles up, and he's off all week, so it's getting done. I wanted to help out, but it's just not in the cards.

But the place looks great!

It's that time again folks so lets get a meet going before summer is over. For now lets take suggestions and put ideas forward. Keep in mind that the Super Duper meet locations should be in a central location so everyone has a chance to attend.

Suggestions

A: Cold Lake, August 1-2. Things to do: http://www.coldlakeairshow.com/main/, BBQ at the CL suby house - plenty of parking for all. Cruise the area annoying the local Military Police with constant boxer rumble, etc.

B: Edmonton, Summer. Cause Snackers lives there.

C: Jasper/Banff/Woods near Hwy1A

If we are doing it near the base, then watch you don't blow a green light, they hate it when you don't stop for a green light...LOL, a very long story when I was on base in Borden, ON...Silly MP's
