Hero of war...
« on: July 15, 2009, 11:49:13 am »
Has anybody heard this song?
It sounds kinda lame but it brought a tear to my eye on my way to work.
It's a very powerful song! Just wondering what everybody else thought of it!

I think the reason it touched me so much is because I have a friend leaving in a couple weeks.

I believe it's by Rise Against.
For every action, there is an equal and opposite criticism.

Great song.

Its hard to describe why i like it, but it captures a few things very well.  The lyrics about torture and about killing innocents are very appropriate.  I like how the song has a perspective change from beginning to end: and a changing of flags.

Its strange to me that War and Hero can be used in the same sentence.  This song depicts very well why i feel that way.

Was never a fan of Rise Against. They just played here with Rancid right?

Stadium seating for Rancid ... pffff

I saw them 4 times in the last 2 years, and all the shows were GA and were half the price and were awesome. Kinda made me sad that were headlining for Rise Against.

I digress though,

I haven't heard the song, but I listen to a lot of political/anti-war music. a lot.

I didn't go but i would almost guarantee it wasn't stadium seating for Rancid and Rise Against. At least not the Calgary one. As for the song, i liked it when i first heard it on the album but now that its out as a single i just shake my head at them. They'll make an album with ten or so good songs but pick the ittshay radio songs to put out as singles. Just getting disappointing really.

Well, I can guarantee that it was stadium seating, and a small floor area that the seated people couldn't get into. My buddy got kicked out for trying. In Calgary.

It was also $60 for tickets (last 4 times Rancid was around $30 when they headline, and general admission every time) So thanks Rise Against for making me hate you even more. LOL

Haha brutal. I've seen tons of shows there, even Rise Against a couple times and there's never been so much as a milk crate to sit on. Glad i threw that almost in there :)
