Hopefully the increased level of commitment the govt has shown to the athletes leading up to these games continues.  It boosts national pride, even for people who are already patriots.

I hate to say this but i'm pretty sure they've already said they'll cut down the budget or at least won't put more to money towards Canadian athletes. They did this year because the games were hosted here.

It'll for sure be great but i doubt it'll happen.

Wow... what a great day!

The closest victories and losses are the ones that make any of this all worth while.

Well done Canada!

What a day, The hockey game was an unreal experience and closing ceremonies were quite nice as well. Enjoyed the Mime bit at the beginning poking fun at the opening ceremonies. But couldn't we have found better musical artists to play? I loved Neil Young and some of the others, but Simple Plan? Nickelback? Hedley? come on.. way to show off our collection of crappy bands to the world

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks the closing ceremony was disappointing.

What a game! Did anyone catch the slight change in the coke commercial after we won?

I saw that!

I laughed and pointed it out to the wife.

For those of you who didn't catch it...

The whole game they were showing Coke commercials zooming at ice level from net to net with words something like "Let's show them whose game it is" before panning up to the Coke logo on the scoreboard.

After the game the first couple coke commercials were the same thing, but the wording changed slightly to be more like "Now they know whose game it is"

It was subtle, but made me laugh.  Someone was thinking ahead and ready just in case... ;)

Hah, no I totally missed that.

They're going to park their car over there. You're going to park your car over here. Get it?

...and the Mc'D's commercial changed too... something like this is where the most gold is!... classic!

I thought the closing ceremonies were done quiet well! Avril Lavinge... I'm not sure...

Well played Canada!

Despite how awful, and embarrassing, that Hedley performance was I can't get that song out of my head today.  I might have to download some Gwar to balance the scales.

I enjoyed the closing ceremonies. It was fun to make fun of Nickelback, Avril, and the rest of them; especially since we were on the theme of laughing at ourselves, I thought it was rather fitting.

One thing did bother me though, after the ceremonies. We were just about to go to bed, content and happy and then that stupid "I Believe" song decided to play one more time and ruin the rest of my evening. I couldn't fall asleep because I couldn't get the stupid "I believe.... I believe..." out of my head. Curse you CTV!

That hockey game wiped me out.  I was so tense during that 3rd period and then into over time.  What a finish though: wow.  Almost got a little teary eyed.

GO CANADA!
