My last option was posting here but I cant find anything definite online. Last weekend I installed my Exedy OEM clutch + ACT lightweight flywheel. Install went smooth. A new throwout bearing was installed, new pilot bearing. I don't have any clue what I did wrong, or if its even transmission related.

The noise is apparent always, in gear clutch in or out, but is much more noticeable when the car is in gear and I'm rolling to a light. Almost sounds like a heatshield rattle.

Not sure if related, but after doing my clutch I found my pedal was sticking when it was 90% of the way up. I only noticed this when I installed the new clutch. I checked my slave, and sure enough it has a small leak on the interior side if the slave.

I'm having a hard time coming up with even a possible solution. Always makes noise... then doesn't with clutch pedal down and clutch engaged... ? Rolling to a stop in gear... clutch engaged or disengaged?

Can you explain a little better? Clutch pedal down to the floor is a disengaged clutch. ;)

Sorry but sometimes typing is harder than talking when describing things. Probably the reader interpretation. lol

Exedy clutches make noise on decel. The springs aren't quite long enough so they have clearances.  Nothing to be worried about. And you get used to it. If you cant,  go oem from subaru (still exedy, but with softer springs.)

Tried getting it down quick before I headed out, ill explain better.

Makes noise when the car is in gear with clutch engaged, i thought it stopped when I gave it gas, but have confirmed it does it constantly. The noise is most apparent rolling to a light with the vehicle in gear, clutch engaged. I know the terminology, clutch "in" means the pedal is in. Sorry for any confusion.

Sonny, my last clutch was an exedy, and my current is supposed to be an OEM replacement.

It sounds exactly like heat shield rattle, but I don't have any idea what shield is causing it. I took off the trouble one (covers headers, by the 02 sensor) long time ago. There aren't really any that could have been bent from the clutch install, thats the only thing thats confusing me.

What I'm thinking is throw out bearing. I have never had good luck with exedy throw out bearings. I had put two in my previous celicas and both rattled even though they were set perfect and greased immensly. From then on I have always used oem throw out bearings during clutch installs.
If the sound goes away even with the clutch pedal pressed in slightly (not fully engaged) throw out bearing.is more than likely the culprit.

It goes away after a while, not completely, but it is still a bit noticeable. I replaced mine with the Exedy KSB03, and i got the same noise when i installed afterwards on deceleration, you sortof getting a rattle, grinding sound. its completely normal for Exedy clutches, especially with a lightweight flywheel.

Boo! I had no idea this would be a by-product of a lightweight flywheel with that clutch kit. Oh well, I'll just live with it.
