NASIOC is a itshay-show for rad-cap info, mainly devolving into ricer "it's pink so it is good" type threads (and my google foo is weak).
I have an aftermarket rad in the rally astardbay WRX/STi. The cap on the radiator says 1.1bar and is so old the sticker is completely faded... which is probably why the rubber gasket disintegrated on it and caused my massive coolant issues at Cochrane!
I tried the rad cap on the coolant reservoir on the radiator and it "fits", but does that mean it actually "fits"? I don't think I need the 15psi/1.1bar rad cap, and it probably overtaxes the cooling system more than necessary. I am simply hoping to run two coolant reservoir caps and call it a day.
Does WSC see this as a worthy solution? The Subaru Edmonton parts lady says in her system that there is only a reservoir cap, which may be the case for factory rad WRXs in 2002/2003, I am unsure. She also says when she takes the VIN filter off, the same rad cap comes up for both rad and reservoir.
I want to buy oem rad caps as my thinking is that for the $20 each they should be of a much higher quality than what I get at Canadian Tire. Dunno if that is faulty logic or not?
