Funk32's Touge Tuning Time Attack Build: "Lets try this again"
« on: October 29, 2017, 04:10:16 pm »
Most people here know my story so I wont really give a long back story.

Refer to my old build thread located here.

Chris at Touge Tuning was building a shop time attack car. Due to being busy and buying 2 GR complete race cars he was looking for a good home for this well prepped chassis. This would give me a blank canvas to start all over again and not rush or cut corners. The cage is built better, welds are clean and it is a lot lighter in design, no more massive gussets. The front end is seam/stitch welded, the rear end has a fuel safe 10 gal fuel cell mounted, also in the rear are proper plates for the wing mounts to be welded to. The entire crew compartment has been properly painted.

Direction,

The car will purposely built for Time Attack, using as many light weight components my wallet and time allow for. I will still do a lot of the work on the car but the finer things will be done by a shop. This includes installing the APR SS/GT wide body kit, wiring of the extra sensors and fuel cell setup and a few other things.

I am still going to work on the theory of slightly less power than my competitors but use mechanical and aero grip to push myself through the season. But with that being said we will still be in the 550-600 on E85 area (that's the plan anyway LOL).

I would like to thank:
Chris  @Touge Tuning
Ryan  @VEX Performance
JJ      @IAG Performance
Mark  @MSI
Sasha @Onpoint Tuning
Sunny @Airboy Tuning

Today I was able to grab some more photos before I head off on another work trip.

Temp Steering wheel until I figure out the direction I want to go on that.

The OMP carbon seat is roughly 1/2 the weight of the Sparco. Sparco will only be put in for lapping days.

Still need to figure out where to set the drysump tank, was thinking truck but not sure there is a good spot for it.

A sight we have seen many times

I am currently out of the country for work but it hasn't stopped parts coming in.

Big thanks to Ryan @Vexperformance for again hooking me up with a great product, the OS Giken Super Lock LSD will be a great addition to the car. Every time I talk to someone about the diffs they kept telling me the front diff was the biggest game changer. After being at WTAC and hearing the positive response from Idin about his newly fitted diff, I was sold. I contacted Ryan and he came through with an amazing price and showed up extremely fast.

chicken beaks.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.

As I spend my last day in Romania I was sent a picture of another part that has arrived, with refreshing the build I was looking to update the dash. I was torn between the MXL2 or MXS, in the end the MXS came out on top.

some might remember I wasn't giving two damns about getting the roof out of the other car. It was cut out with a sawzall, this left the roof still actually bonded to parts of the frame work. I thought this would be a nightmare to separate and the first tool I used didnt look promising (windshield removal wire). But then I found a nice chisel/scraper and was able to lightly hammer it down through the sealer.

the came out looking great, not bad for CF that has been used to hold tools and even had rims and tires on top of it.

Before I went to one of many seasonal parties I hit up UPS and Purolator, both had gifts from some heavy hitters.

Mark from Mooresport (MSI) is known for sending pretty cool gifts during this time of year, this year is no exception. The pics will describe the use of the item. Thank you to Mark and his Team for this and hope you have a good time on Vacation and a Happy New Year.

Next is Adidas Motorsports Division. I had expressed interest in the new gloves and it turns out they were feeling friendly lol. These are probably one of the first sets to land in Canada. They feel amazing and I like how the RSR Gloves have gotten away from the velcro that the ADISTAR Gloves had.

Made it on to the Adidas Motorsports IG story board,

I spent a little bit of time down at Touge Tuning. I just did some little stuff around my car, sorted out the seat brackets and fitted the Vibrant Vertical Flow Intercooler. I am interested to see how this works. Test fitted the cf headlight covers and made a list of things that are needed to be done or bought. Some more craziness is coming in the new year.

I also helped them install the ETS rotated and FMIC kits on the GR race car. Damn thing looks nice.

On Friday we all went out for a Team Touge annual Christmas get together, filled with lots of laughs and lots of great drinks. Thank you Chris for putting this on and allowing me to join the team.
