Red's Beat'm'up Truck - '91 Toyota Pickup
« on: May 21, 2019, 08:13:36 pm »
Thank you Kijiji for continuing to supply me with cheap heaps.
What I've picked up... A carbed 22R, 2wd, 5 speed, reg cab beast of a truck.

"Did not run when parked". Previous owner says it was cooked and needs a rebuild. So, rebuild it shall have.

I think I'm most excited for the 5x114.3 and small centre bore, it's gonna get some grossly overqualified wheels.

What happened to the civic?
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.

What happened to the civic?

Probably turned to dust after hitting one too many potholes.

I'm forecasting a prediction that the only thing this truck is going to beat up is your wallet.

Yes

Also yes

Probably turned to dust after hitting one too many potholes.

Also also yes.

What happened to the civic?

So actually, it was sold to my brother cause he wrote off his car. It was only gonna be lent out like the dollar store where it is, but he liked it too much.

So rescued it today

And something totally awesome

I can run 225/45r17 tires on this thing... I happen to have a spare set of firehawks in this size... also it's the same size as the Altezza.

Get some procomp D-loop steelies like ya boi
The 3 is raw.  Lighter than more agile.  The 6 probably feels like a 747.  And by that contrast, my STI probably feels like the Hindenburg.  So GR's are like the International Space Station.

I'm betting none. Because otherwise would imply there is some steel left.

But, you don't want to paint the truck yellow and make it look like this other famous truck I have heard about?? :O

Uhhh

It doesn't *look* rusty, but that'd be because nothing's there.

Started the disassembly process

That... Is not oil. That's Toyota red coolant. Yay.

Mmmm, greasy.

Bad rad! Sit in the corner.

The corner would be too good for it. It deserves the scrap heap.

Did some more work on it last night. Exhaust manifold was removed

Noticed some front end damage

And discovered a mechanical fuel pump

Removed the alternator, promptly dropped it into the oil, and then began looking for a new one.

Answer the question

When the truck actually runs, reliably, for a month or more. If it's being a pain, efi.

You don't have to call a tow truck, if your vehicles never leave the garage.  ;D
