NES Classic
« on: November 25, 2016, 08:32:34 am »
Does anyone here know when and where they are releasing more of these? There is no way I am going to pay some sholeasay on Kijiji $250 for one when they cost $80 or whatever new.

Seeing as it is almost Christmas there has to be more coming out soon?

They did release more. They sold out in under 10 minutes. Best buy had them online on Nov 23rd. The message I keep hearing is "sit tight, they're coming".

No guarantee they'll be here for christmas, but they will be here for sure in the spring. And definitely don't pay more than retail for it.

If I stumbled upon one, I'd have no problem being one of those sholeasays to flip it on kijiji lol.

I remember there being a pretty heated thread on this before; people buying things and reselling them and I was on both sides.

I have and will continue to buy car parts off Kijiji or what not that are cheaper than they should be or are on the rare side and then flip them for a little extra cash. BUT I would never go buy a brand new item just released with plans to sell for a profit immediately, that is just being a prick.

Scalpers ruin everything.  If the people that actually wanted to buy these were able to, the prices wouldn't be as outrageous as they are.  The demand is pretty insane though, I was offered a ton of cash for my spot in line on release day.

Or those people holding off putting it on kijiji until December anticipating the desperate parent/person trying to find one for a Christmas gift. Nothing screams Christmas spirit like gouging somebody's wallet by marking it up 500%

A lot of the demand and lack of supply is artificially created by Nintendo being jackasses and restricting stock availability to create hype and demand. This is far from the first time they've pulled this move with their products, the Amiibo was another famous example of them pulling this ullbayitshay tactic. While it does create hype all it does is lead to scalping and a lot of pissed off customers.

The toy manufacturers draw straws to see who gets to pull this scam each year I'm pretty sure.

Same idea with the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350's, retail the shoes cost you $300 but since they only release so many at a time people are asking $1500 for them on kijiji/ebay...

Notwithstanding the discussion involving how 'legal' the acquisition of ROMs is, have you looked into RetroPie? (https://retropie.org.uk/)? It's pretty much plug and play now. Buy a couple of USB controllers and a Raspberry Pi, and you're set... the newer Pi's can handle up to most N64 games I believe.

Just thought I'd toss it out there. I've built a few of these, they all end up being <$100 and if you ask one of your friends with a 3D printer you can get yourself any case you want too.

Yeah, I want one. But the NES classic is for nostalgia, not the 30 games.

Link worked. I really don't get what the hell Nintendo was thinking throughout this whole mess. The only thing I can think of was to build interest in the brand for the switch launch, but I mean they have a hot selling product why not at least fill the demand while its there.

Talking to me?

Just opinion. Not a fan. My words sound harsher read than my intent.

No sorry, I wasn't very clear.  I don't understand Nintendo's decision on this.

Even if they were releasing an SNES, I don't see how either would hurt the sale of the other.

But screw them.  I couldn't justify the price of an NES Classic, so I picked up two of these instead.

And now, seeing how they're treating North America, #noragrets.

I'm pretty upset, considering I've been trying to get one since launch.

It doesn't even have the ability to play actual SNES cartridges... people will buy absolutely anything these days.
