Monster Hunter World
« on: December 10, 2017, 05:32:54 am »
The game looks pretty darn good just from the streams I've been able to watch on Twitch.  I really want to get it on PC but as of now there has been no announcement of when the release for PC is going to be. Because of this I've been considering getting it on the PS4 instead. Anyone else thinking of getting this game?

Picked this up at launch, as my wife and BIL have both played all the NA games MH has released. I'm obsessed. I hated playing it on DS, but on Xbox, it's a whole new world. I'm 30 hours of playtime in, and they have even more than me. Currently maining SnS, and stuck at HR 13 because I can't kill Nergigante. Those 1 shot kills from Elder dragons tho.

But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

I had like a thousand hours on the PSP version a long time ago.

I'll probably get it whenever it launches on PC. Does anyone know if there's crossplay between systems?

It does not.

Quote
Even though fans are clamoring for more cross-play capabilities in games, hardware, and software, manufacters continue to turn a deaf ear. Capcom's Monster Hunter World is no exception. As it stands now, Monster Hunter World players are locked to the platform they purchased the game for with no cross-platform support.

Part of the reason for the lack of cross-play for Monster Hunter World (and other games) is that hardware manufacturers are generally uninterested in working to support their rival's playerbase. From their perspective, if you're playing on another console then you bought the wrong version, and you need to pony up the dough for a second copy.

I've been playing quite a bit since the day after launch on ps4 (#neverpreorder), just killed Nergigante last night. Now I'm working on mopping up all the optional quests I've been ignoring for probably too long. I've been using battle horn so far, curious to see how much real endgame content there is.

Killing Nergigante gets you to HR14 (one per story line mission). When you hit HR50, you go into a leveling system (HR50+). There's a youtuber named Gaijin Hunter (british dude moved to Japan) that got a press copy, and had 50 hours into it before the official launch. There's a uckfay ton of end game content. Keep in mind you also want multiple weapons/sets for elements. I have 5-6 SnS sets right now and I have an armor blast set, and I'll be working on a dragonking odogaron set shortly.

Only just picked this up for ps4 but I love it so far. It helps me forget about the disappointment from derpstiny's bs.

I don't like PlayStation at all, but I wanted to play Horizon Zero Dawn.
Also there's way more people playing MHW on PS4.

Going off topic here but how is Horizon Zero Dawn? The game looks super nice, been thinking about getting it. Might play that while I wait for MHW to release on PC.

I absolutely love it so far. It plays smoothly and you're really expected to use everything available to you, like traps and itshay, otherwise some of the machines will roflstomp you. The story is decently interesting too. I'd recommend it to anyone really.

Pretty solid overall, the "end game" is a bit stale however imo at this point. Recolored monsters, almost everything is dragon based towards the end game, etc etc.

Lots of spicy meme's though.

It's a lot of grinding for decorations to unlock the gear more, yes.

Also, who doesn't love bagel?

That said, we're hoping that in a future DLC/patch they'll give us G-Rank.
