How much power can ver.2 Sti 5 speed Tranny take ?

I'm looking at either building or buying an engine and was wondering how much power these stock trannys will hold ?

Similar to the later WRX 5 speeds, allegedly a little better but forum polls aren't exactly scientific.

~300wtq is as hard as I'd push it for a reliable daily. If it's a summer/fun/second car, just send it. It may or may not ever die.
I may scream like a dainty lady, but I punch like a fairly strong 11-year-old.

I'd agree with this. I would also say that if you're upgrading/thinking about upgrading though, you might as well throw in a 6 speed.

Interesting, they've moved to a cast design since I last saw those. I was and still am a bit hesitant to buy them because they don't seem to have a ton of proof other than some dyno tests, and it doesn't look like thats changed. Oddly they also list the SVX as compatible even though it never came manual.

My '12 WRX had 316wtq and I beat on it for 30,000 kms(no neutral/clutch drops but very aggressive launches regularly). No transmission issues - engine bearings and centre diff, well that's another story....LOL
