Cheap flights to Vancouver?
« on: April 20, 2009, 01:26:16 pm »
I have been searching for some decently priced flights to Vancouver but somehow can't find anything less than $450-500 for a return trip, even at a seat sale price.  Are there any airlines that allow people to fly standby or any other (read: less expensive) flights?  It seems as if westjet and Air Canada don't offer standby flights anymore.

I've always book through westjet and it's usually in the $300 range.
Best time to look for deals is right after midnight. At least that's when i find good deals.

Round trip for ~$300 including taxes, or just one way?  Is it better to purchase tickets well in advance or as a last minute thing?  I am looking to fly there in July.

Round trip.

Sometimes though it may be better to buy a package deal with hotel. Not that you can't find chaep flights only.

This Feb i went with the wife for a long weekend and we both paid $1200 with flights and accomodation at Fairmont downtown for 2 nights for both of us.

After my trip to mexico, I have really been soured on WestJet.  Airlines in other countries offer a much better service than most Canadian airlines.

I'm looking at leaving the 20th and returning august 3rd.  I do not need a hotel as I am simply connecting in vancouver and then taking off to europe.  For some reason the flight to frankfurt from vancouver is less than half of what it would cost to fly out of Edmonton or Calgary.  Even if I still pay 400 for a flight to vancouver and back, it's still 300 to 400 less than flying out of edmonton or calgary.

+1

My flight home (one-way) last month was $79... plus fees and taxes = $122.50

I think I booked about a month or 6 weeks ahead. Worth a look?
