CMyles Wanna-Be STi Build: Sold = (
« on: October 14, 2012, 10:46:04 am »
Moved this from Member Gallery, POST AWAY if you haven't seen.

So as some of you may recall, i had my matte white 95 GC8.

Well it sold, and i was heart broken, and deeply regretted my decision, but i knew it was for the best...
I went a week or so driving my 2007 Pontiac Wave.. Well it just wasn't cutting it. I put up a WTB ad and wanted to see what was out there, I thought why not, I might find something for a good price.
Turns out, an older gentleman had been interested in selling his Subaru and upgrading to a larger vehicle for his family.
After he contacted me, it seemed too good to be true. This weekend I went and looked at it, and i was sold.
I had the car in my driveway today and I have to say I'm happier than a kid in a candy shop.

Recent Picture Spot:

Here's the car.

Its a 2004 Subaru WRX, originally from the states. Has roughly 110xxx miles. Bone stock except for the wing and rims. Power locks, windows, sunroof, mirrors, AC, cruise, heated seats!
I have to say, i couldn't be happier with the car. Besides a dent in the drivers door, and a scrape on the rear bumper, the vehicle is immaculate. One of the cleanest WRX's I've seen. The paint has a gorgeous bronze/gold flake in it, a great reflection in the paint, the interior is mint besides a rip in the steering wheel and the threads on the shift boot coming out. Even has the original stereo. I have to say, I have always wanted a 04/05, and a STi is a little out of my price range. I plan on doing a whole lot of work to this car in the upcoming years. It might be a prolonged build thread, but at least I have one. Lets start out by a good wash and some buffing and polishing.

Nice mod list. I suggest a mishimoto rad! People seem to have less problems with them.

Forgive me for asking, but why the 650cc injectors? Would it not be cheaper to pick up some 05-07 WRX 550cc injectors? Or '07 STi 550cc injectors?

Comes with my buddies setup he's going to be selling me, also my soon to be tuner prefers the 650cc's over pinks. Why not go with something bigger/better. I'd rather be able to adjust for more fuel than not enough.

I'm not completely set on a Koyo, just an option. Will still be looking around, thanks for the input though. = D

Fantastic tuner though, my buddys car feels ridiculous, hybrid vf39 setup. i was blown away, very in-depth tuner ass-well , 6-8 revs before hes happy apparently.

so you are doing e-tuning? have you ever been to Airboy(Sunny's) lol he is one of the best tuners for Subaru's and he is in your city? and trust me he is Very in depth.

I'm taking a different route.  Not saying he's a bad tuner , just not what I'm looking for with this project.

Going against the norm is gonna get my tires slashed, sheesh.
For the amount of money, free retuned and touch ups, I like the route I'm going.

I like the rims.. And I want your spats.. and TGV delete. Are those new rims gonna be the summer rims? Cause I can't say I'm a huge fan of the current ones.

Those rims in the last picture i'm trying to sell. I hate them, So yes, summers!
You don't have spats?
And ill be doing TVG Delete, completely grinding the middle part out, and gasket matching.
Big list of parts for spring, its just getting the money in order. Everythings getting expensive hahaha, i'm still not 100% exactly what i'll be getting as for a motor project. If somebody buys my SPEC C Strut Spring combo ill be buying coils.

Most of the technical stuff my buddy and I are tackling together.
Another thing is a parallel injectors fuel system instead of series.

Also picked up a Tactrix cable and have run a couple data logs for my stock tune to make sure the car is running good. I think my max degree of knock correction was around a 6 , wanna focus on bringing that down as much as possible

If I Put My Brembos Up For Sale?
« Reply #18 on: November 29, 2012, 07:08:20 pm »
Hey Everybody,

I'm really debating whether or not to go forward with my Brembo conversion.
I have all 4, as well as the rear adapter brackets and i am having the rear's re drilled because of a seized bolt in both.
I still need to send off the E-Brake shoes to be resized to fit STi rear rotors, buy STi rear rotors, and brand new pads all around and turn the front STi rotors i have.

The question is... Do i go forward with the conversion, or sell them to pay for my turbo setup in the spring.

I would really love to rock Brembos, but My winter steelies wont fit, and i have a lot more work to do.  Anybody who has done the conversion, is it really worth it?

Honestly, I probably won't be tracking the car, its going to be my daily driver. I bought them for the "Baller factor" as i want my WRX to look and perform identical to an STi without a hefty price-tag.

Thanks guys, any input is appreciated!

Hmm. If your rocking the TD04 then the brembos would be overkill. Especially if your not intending to track it.

My priority would be to go stage two (if not already there) as well as suspension mods (sways + end links).

If you are already stage two and already have some suspension work done (sorry, can't remember what your build thread said) and that by turbo swap you mean a stage three setup (16g or 18g, etc), then keep the brakes as you already have them and just rock stage two until you have enough money for a nes turbo.

Come spring i'm going to be equipping my beast with a ported vf39 / 650cc DW injectors, Perrin TMIC, Typhoon Intake, 3" TBE + Uppipe, lightweight pully kit, all necessary maintenance and such.
And as for suspension, i have a set of STi Spec C' RA's waiting to go on. So around an inch drop from stock STi and around twice the stiffness, even more. They are 4 way adjustable stiffness.
I'm hoping for 270+whp.

The fact that i'm not going to be tracking it, I baby my cars, I would feel bad hahaha.  There still is the potential for autox and such though.

Honestly 4/2 pots would be more than enough for your setup.
Brembos are a ballin factor, but that does seem like a lot of work to make em fit.

I think I'm going to go ahead with it.
Nabbed ebrake shoes to get sent off, thanks Hilux.
Gonna go grab some rear rotors, then either get new fronts or my others turned.

I've decided that brakes are more important than power. I can hold off on the whole motor build if need be.

Thanks guys.

So I've changed my approach a little bit. I'm going to just go for stage 2 this year, exhaust, intake, ebcs , tune and probably just stick to that. Funds aren't letting me go as crazy of a route as I wanted too. Why does school have to be so damn expensive.

I think thats a good idea. Rock Stage two until the funds permit.

Stage two really wakes up the WRX.

You could even hold off on the EBCS until you upgrade your turbo.
