mine already has a little crack in it and is rock chipped to itshay so if i wreck it anymore i guess it'll be a good excuse to get a new one  ;)

That must have been my evil twin...

New joint held horizontally

Old joint held horizontally, notice the flop

New VS old

Install was a complete and total pain. Partially because I didn't remove the transmission cross-member, but i just didn't feel safe jacking up the transmission. There was little room to work with, so many things in the way, the roll pins were stubborn little uckfays as well. Hammering away in such a tight space totally killed my rotator cuff. I can't smell anything but PB blaster any more either lol. All in all, it was worth it. Shifting feel is firm and precise, the way it should be. Felt like my shift knob was sitting in a jar of mayo before.

I'm pleased for you. I feel your pain having done this myself, admittedly with a jack under the tranny and I pulled the bolt not the pin.

I too installed this little guy and it was definately a lot of work but 100% worth it. Made a huge difference in shifter feel. But i just pulled the cross member and it made things easier, but still a pain to install.
God must love crazy people, he made a lot of them.

So I just changed the valve cover gaskets because of a really minor leak I had. Just like the other repairs I mentioned I did in this thread, this was a complete and total pain in the assay. A bunch of the bolts you need to remove are tucked away in the farthest/tightest spaces. I would have easily saved a couple hours if I had a ratcheting wrench, or even a mini-socket. My socket was too big ended being useless on half the bolts. I had to use a normal wrench which probably fell atleast a dozen times. Ended up taping it onto my finger which actually worked surprisingly well! Changing the VC gaskets is a pretty straight forward process, just time consuming depending on your tools. Thanks blessthekellen for the link to the gaskets.
Also did the spark plugs, got some NGK iridiums (BKR6Eix). Found out it already had NGK PFR6B plugs in there. Car runs well on either one.

Gaskets

I don't know... With better tools, I'd say yeah this would be much easier. Make sure to have a 10mm ratcheting wrench when you do yours. You'll thank me, haha

Also got some Subaru extra-S transmission fluid. Really helps with notchy shifting. Would recommend this over motul 75w90 (gear 300 I think it's called)

Did you get it right from HT Auto or score that one off the Type R for sale?

Scored the one off the type R haha. Pretty sure I would need to remove my front spats. I don't think there's a way around it  :(
