2009 Mazda RX8 Oil Filter for WRX/STI
« on: June 08, 2013, 06:35:42 pm »
So everyone knows that the Subaru Black Tokyo Roki oil filters were the best for our cars.  Well the 2009 mazda rx8 oil filter works perfectly for our cars. Made by Tokyo Roki, has the same bypass pressure setting and it is taller so it has more filter media.

Here are some specs for the filter.  I personally put one on today and it was a perfect fit. Got the filter from Sherwood Park Mazda for less than $10.

This is good to know. The first thing I thought when I changed the oil on my car was how small that filter was!! I just installed a napa gold yesterday and have 1 more left then I will try this one. Thanks for putting this up.

Yep guys on other forums have been running these from other forums with no problems at all. When I saw the 2014 forester and the edmonton auto show it had roki filter on it, kinda surprised me to see that wonder if they will work on all turbo d subies

Solid idea if you like to extend your oil change intervals.

Huh, interesting. I too was amazed how small the filter was, both in the sti and the forzzy.. I'm due in another 1500km or so. Think I'll grab one.

Not only that, I don't trust the Subaru Blue filters. They're made by Fram. If you look at them when people take them apart they have paper end caps. This filter is by far and a way better than the blue's.

Well I just rolled into Kramer and picked one up. Gotta watch it though, I said 09 rx8 and the first one he came out with was smaller and blue, which turned out to be the 08 version. I'll fire it on some time within a week or so.

Hell uckfaying no. Told him I was a little confused and showed him a pic of the one at the top of this thread. Then he went and looked it up on the computer and brought out the correct one. I don't think he realized the 09+ used a different filter. I thought of all the rotaries out there that could be using the wrong filter, shuddered a little and then realized it probably doesn't matter considering how often they blow up anyway. :P

Yeah, but you can't even use a sandwich adapter with the KillerB header so... Not surprised.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.

Probably not.

I agree, I don't see how it'd be different from using any other generic filter (which might also list multiple applications).
