The Miata will be supercharged very soon! I believe Stephen has a new supercharger on the way for him for his Miata so I will be buying the Jackson Racing SC that he currently has installed.

I wasn't really planning on doing any sort of forced induction this soon but when good deals come up you gotta take em. Unfortunately, by the time it is all installed there will most likely be snow on the ground so I won't be able to even to drive the car until next spring. Nonetheless, I am very excited about getting some more power out of this car.

Grew up wanting a JR supercharger on a Civic or Miata :)  Will live vicariously through you.

Wasn't really planning on doing anything else with the car this year since I will be parking it soon but a few good deals popped up online and from friends so I decided to jump on them.

First thing I did was pick up a set of Hella E Code headlights for the car. Miata's have sealed beam headlights so I would have had to replace them at some point anyways so I might as well upgrade. I don't have any light output photos but they are a major improvement. Plus the fresh glass looks really nice paired with the newly acquired clear side markers and clear running lights.

I have decided that I am not going to waste money buying wheels until I find the set that I am looking for, so I picked up some 25mm spacers from Chase to help the stock NB wheels fill out the wheel wells in the meantime. With these installed and the slightly large tires they give the car  a much more aggressive stance that I actually really like.

Before:

After:

And here is a side by side:

I absolutely love the view of the front of these cars with aggressive wheels. The way they poke out past the front bumper looks so good.

The last thing I did over the weekend was pick up a set of side skirt extensions. These cost anywhere from $150 to $400 (depending on make etc.) before shipping and I found a set of Miata specific ones in the city for $150 and ended up getting them for for $130 so I had to jump on it.

They may look a little too aggressive for the car right now at stock heigh but once the car is lowered it will fit much better (I do still love how they look currently). With the wheel spacers on, the side skirt extensions stick out just the right amount without going past the wheel.

Love the side skirt extensions.

Always wanted to get them (still do) for my FD.  The car looks fantastic.

I haven’t done any hard cornering or anything but no rubbing so far. It’s quite high at stock height as you know so unless I was at auto x or something I think I’ll be alright. Also, when Stephen had this car aligned, a little negative camber up front was added.

I can't remember off the top of my head but I will let you know tomorrow.

EDIT.

They are ECCPP spacers.

Chase (cmyles) gets good prices on spacers. Send him a message.

I had the day off today and had the urge to do something to one of my cars so I decided to swap the cluster bulbs out for LED's on the Miata.

It's a pretty simple procedure.

1: Remove the upper half of the cover around the signal light stocks or whatever you call em.
2: Remove two screws under the cluster hood.
3: Pull the hood straight towards you and hope that you don't break all of clips (I only broke one, still holds tight though).
4: Remove 4 screws (two on top and two on bottom) holding the cluster in.
5: Unplug 3 harnesses, the speedometer cable and remove the cluster.
6: Twist and remove the 4 big green bulbs from the back of the cluster.
7: Swap in the LED bulbs and hope that you put them in the right way as LED's only work one way.
8: Reverse to install.

One thing to note is when I first put the cluster back in I noticed that the gas gauge was very dim. I eventually realized that there are two wires that go from the gauge face, through the cluster and out the back. These two wires were in front of the LED that lit that part of the cluster up. Simply move it over and everything lights up properly.

I was hoping that replacing the bulbs would make the entire cluster light up white but I found out that the faces themselves have a green film glued on to the back of them. So, I guess that gives me an excuse to order some Revlimiter gauge faces  >:D

Here are some photos of the process.

And now here are some before and after pictures. First set are with the garage lights on and the second set are in the dark.

It’s bright but not overly bright. Pretty comparable to a new vehicle I’d say. And I mean for 20 minutes and $50 you can’t go wrong.

Yeah, older, faded dim bulbs is probably what's hampering my light output. I'm already looking on the internets for the bulbs. Sick.

What size or what make of bulb?

They are 194 LED’s and I can’t remember the brand of bulb. I’ll look once I’m home but they are 360 degree bulbs with 5 diodes. Picked them up at JB’s as nowhere else in the city had the ones I needed.

Nice!

Yea I want to get gauges, the matching HVAC panel, the retro hazard/pop up switches and the retro window switches. It’ll be a hefty price tag but I’m going for a sort of classic/retro look in the car and those pieces will set it off nicely.

I have wanted leather door pulls pretty much since the day I bought the car but could never justify paying over $100 for two straps of leather so I decided to have a crack at making my own.

I simply bought a real leather belt from Value Village ($4.00), cut it to length, punched holes in either end and mounted them up. The straps themselves look really good actually as the leather has the exact same grain or look as the factory leather in the car.

The washers are definitely not staying, I just had them laying around so used them just to mock up the strap. I will have to get a little more creative with what to do there. Maybe dull the washers down to match the speaker cover then use some nice dress up hardware?

Anyways for a $4.00, 5 minute DIY I would say it was a success. Once I figure out a nice way to mount them I honestly won't see a difference between mine and some $100+ ones online.

If anyone has any ideas as to how to cleanly mount these or ways I can improve let me know!

I also need some help making a few decisions with some interior pieces. I am going for the whole "modern retro" look on the interior of this car so I want some opinions cause from what I have seen that look can go very wrong very fast.

I will be replacing the window and hazard/pop up switches with the Revlimiter retro pieces but I can't decide whether to go with the black or silver.

Also, I narrowed down my choice of gauge faces to three, which one do you like the most? Top, middle or bottom?
