Dylan's 2003 Legacy GTB - SOLD
« on: August 24, 2018, 10:11:35 pm »
After buying the Miata I started my hunt to find another vehicle to use as a daily / winter vehicle. I wasn't looking for anything special, just something AWD and reliable that I could kind of beat on all winter and not care too much about. Well, so much for that. The vehicle I ended up finding and buying defeats the purpose of a winter beat as it is way too clean. It will do the job of a winter car / daily driver very well but with how clean it is I definitely won't be beating on it and not caring.

The car in question is a 2003 Legacy GTB E-Tune. It has 53 000km, was an auction grade 4A/B (interior literally looks like it has never been sat in), has full leather/cloth interior and is automatic which I am actually okay with. It has the tiptronic shifting with +- shifting buttons on the steering wheel which is pretty cool. The automatic model of this car only has 260BHP unlike the 280BHP manual models but I feel like it pulls much harder than my other GTB did.

I can't think of the paint code right now but it is the black with super sparkly gold flake in it. Almost looks green or brown in certain light, I believe someone with a JDM Forester build thread had the same paint. It is stunning!

The wheels are pretty goofy but they have almost brand new winter tires so I will be running those as winter wheels and will pick up new ones for summer next year.

The paint is in such good shape for how old the car is, look at that reflection!

Tried to get a picture of the sparkle but it is hard to capture with this ittshay iPhone camera.

First thing I did when I got the car was do a headlight restoration. They were so yellow and hazy that my HID headlights looked like halogens.

Paint will be Java black pearl. There is no picture that could ever do that colour justice. Easily the most unique and beautiful paint I have ever seen on a Subaru

+100. JBP is the stuff wet dreams are made of.

Dylan, are you going to keep this stock? This is in so good of condition I wouldn't even want to winter drive it.

Yeah, I think I've seen it firsthand once, but pictures of it have always had me jelly... I like my dgm, but the flake in that is unreal.

Was planning on keeping this car basically stock but my friend who bought my other GTB was in need of some cash and offered to sell me the BC coilovers from his GTB for basically nothing, so of course I picked them up.

I paid $1400 for the coilovers last year and put maybe 3000km on them and he sold them to me for $615, there was no way I couldn't buy them. So I am now going to start looking for wheels for the car slowly over winter.

Lime Green, Ken Block Blue, Sakura Pink.

Two of the above, three wheels in one colour, and the last in the other.

Took advantage of the Whiteline blowout sale at Lightspeed and picked up all the necessary rear suspension arms to be able to adjust the camber and toe to help fit the wider/lower offset wheels I will be picking up.

Went and bought a set of Work Emotion D9R's in 18x9.5 ET38. Pretty stoked to finally have a set of Work Wheels as I have wanted a set for quite some time now.

They are in pretty good condition but they are black so I will be dropping them off at Wheel Clinic to get powder coated and might as well have them completely refinished as well. Just need to pick a color to go with.

BRAWNZE MAN

You bet!

I was thinking of going with a bronze or copper color. I ordered a bunch of different swatch samples from Prismatic Powders so I will make a decision once I see the colors in person.

Do both.

Definitely like how a nice bronze/copper wheel looks on a dark coloured car.

If I do decide to go with a bronze or copper it'll be a nice glossy color with some depth, not like the matte bronze that Volk uses on their wheels. I am not a huge fan of matte or satin wheels.

If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

Haha that would probably be one of the worst wheel colors of all time!

The two copper tones I ordered swatches of are:

Illusion Wild Copper https://www.prismaticpowders.com/shop/powder-coating-colors/PMB-5364/illusion-wild-copper

Illusion Cinnamon https://www.prismaticpowders.com/shop/powder-coating-colors/PMB-6923/illusion-cinnamon

As well as a few other pinks similar to the Sakura Pink in case I am feeling a little wild when I get them coated.

Too red

Too orange

Nut up and get Rose Gold: https://www.prismaticpowders.com/shop/powder-coating-colors/PMB-10047/illusion-rose-gold

Illusion Rose Gold is actually the color I really want, but it's an extra $300 give or take, we'll see.

What's an extra $300 to get the colour you want, on wheels you've wanted to own for a long time?

You're right. I finally bought wheels that I have wanted for some time, I should just nut up and do the color I want as well.

Thanks for the little push boys!
