Jerkmobile - On to the next adventure
« on: February 26, 2011, 04:26:27 pm »
Well folks, it's happened.
I've gone and bought a car that can't carry anything, is uncomfortable as hell, is expensive to run, and has too many gears. Something I've said for a long time "is just way to impractical for me to own."
Alright, now that the rant is out of the way...

Ever since I first saw the STi (2004, since I didn't much care about cars available in places I don't live) I've wanted one.
I had absolutely no idea why, no idea who made it, and no idea of its purpose.
Me: "I want an STi"
Friend: "A subaru?"
Me: "wtf is a subaru? I want an STi."

Sure, as a kid I had this picture on my wall, just like every other kid. But I'm not stupid, I know what will never happen.
An STi, while mostly but not completely impractical (in my eyes) is still achievable.

In 2008, I partially fulfilled this dream, but practicality won out when this happened. The failhatch constantly and continuously showed me the error I had made. I don't regret it, learned tons, and now I think I'm ready to grow up (and drive fast around hard pointy orange things... you know, like real grownups do)

For the next 2.5 years, I discovered what AWD actually means, what autox is, what rally is, what a turbo is, and what fun can be had when all those things are put together.

So let's get to the point.

Wut?

Revenge is sweet!

Btw, some people call this:
6) LED license plate bulbs

..underglow.

...just sayin'.

• LED licence plate lights

Underglow?

Just sayin...

BTW, it looks cozy.

Awesome.  Looks like it has all the initial "must have" mods out of the way.  Look forward to seeing what this becomes.

For the hilarity that I'm sure will soon ensue. And perhaps for the technical updates and informative posts that will come in the future.

Congrats Cam!!!

I was honestly thinking yesterday while on WSC, knowing you sold your 08 WRX. "I wonder what he's going to buy". Even contemplated PM'ing you.

Now the wait is over for the STi, hope it's everything you waited for!

The quickest reasons I can think of?
I don't have Rs.
I don't have wheels for Rs.
I don't have the money to buy a set of wheels and tires ONLY usable on track.
But mostly? I don't want Rs. Like some other things, I've heard "once you go R, you never go back" and I really don't want to only be able to race with Rs.

Rs would be nice, but they are probably the lowest thing on my priority list for an autox mod.

Looks good snackers, can't wait to see it further down the road.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.

Can I ask why you would go back to catted?  Is it a requirement for a class you are trying to qualify for?

Could be the smell or the extra noise.  If I had to do it all over again, I'd go catted.

BSP is fine to be catless...  Maybe he wants quieter & no smell...  Or maybe you're right & he's eventually aiming for STU.

BTW, good wrenching w/ ya today to take those darn S-techs off the car.

I'm not a tree hugger, but it's just a preference I have for a couple reasons that fit my needs. Nothing technical, or "class specific".

Thanks for the help guys.
The ride home on the Henday was SOOO much smoother.
