Is the seibon hood lighter than stock?

I haven't compared the two on a scale yet, but from what I've read it's supposedly 20lbs lighter.. when I swap em over Ill weigh them each.

The wet carbon Seibon hoods aren't substantially lighter than a stock aluminum hood. It's the dry carbon fiber that's super light, but also insanely expensive.

Mind I ask what that trunk lid cost you upon arrival?  ;)  I've been pondering on the idea of removing that STI wing... so researching on cost for different options

Thanks, and the car is coming along very well  ;D

And, according to airboy, it doesn't block 50%+ of the possible airflow...

yea he told me that too, now i have tiny pebbles in the fins of the intercooler and i have to spend half a day every year picking them out.  airboys out there somewhere laughing

Got a letter today saying that the plate that I wish to order was denied. I honestly don't think its offensive at all and nor did the lady at the registries office, or thought it would cause any grief. I called the number on the letter to see what's up, and the lady I talked to "supposes" that the EVL is offensive..pfft.

She suggested I appeal it by writing an email to the Director of Motor Vehicles directly, which I plan on doing.

The offender:

Generated on this handy dandy plate generator site:

In other news, my passwordjDM aerocatch backings showed up:

These babies are gonna save me from having to drill a large fugly hole in the underside of the hood.

Also...theres been this thought in the back of my mind..nagging me..

airlift

You're considering bags?

I've been looking into it..

If I go that route.. there goes the track ability of the car. As much as Airlift pushes that their kit for the STi is trackable.. I just don't believe that it's anywhere near what my RCE setup that I have now, despite the coils vs bags head to head demo that they did.. I suspect major bias.

a friend of mine has bags
it rides the exact same as the coil overs he had previously.
the only difference is you essentially change spring rates as you raise and lower the car.

have you considered the Muller cups offered by fortune auto?
they are essentially little bags that mount on top of your coil overs and  they can raise the car a few inches

if you car about track, stay coilovers. There's a reason why you don't see many race teams running air bags. Springs are consistent. With bags, there's too much extra itshay to go wrong.

That said, are you serious about track racing? A lot of people talk the talk, but very few walk the walk. I didn't notice any mention of having tracked the car before, other than autocross or going down the drag. You have a few mods that would need to change before you could reliably track the car anyways. It seems like it's built more for street driving and bags would give you that look you want, and the luxury to raise it up without having to dick around under the car all the time.

Yeah, that's the other thing.... Am I serious about tracking the car? Its difficult for me to be %100 committed due to work schedule, personal schedule, +....  And I haven't heard any news about the years autox continuing in Edmonton. Stratotech is closed. And I don't feel like hunting for events.

I do enjoy hpde when I can, and the car can handle it now....

I dunno.. Decisions decisions.

I'd be worried about running the bags in the winter. I'm sure it's fine, and so and so did it, and he didn't have any problems, and "my buddy runs then year round" and there's a ton of third party stories about how there's nothing to worry about. But I would be worried about running bags in the winter. And if your STi is a summer only car... You can just leave now.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.

But but but semi trucks run bags all year round.  Anyways, couldn't be any worse than running adjustable coilovers in the winter.

I would go with bags.

If a coilover leaks, it just sags. If a bag pops, a line breaks, or a compressor fails...

If a bag pops, a line breaks, or a compressor fails...

I feel like all of those issues can be addressed by using a quality product, doing a proper install, and keeping up with proper maintenance.

Unfortunately, there isn't anyone else running an STi with Airlift round these parts and fear that I would be a guinea pig if I were to run this setup..

A pig squealing isn't always a bad thing. Pigs can orgasm for something like 30 minutes straight.
