So even after my little tune up at First Gear I am still hearing a very distinct gurgling or bubbling noise right in front of the dash on initial start up and for the first maybe 4 or 5 minutes of driving when revving the car in first to get moving.

From all my research the only thing people have said is air in the coolant system, but I had the coolant flushed and bled when the car was at First Gear.

Does anyone else have any ideas what could be making this sound. It doesn't seem to be harming the car (no overheating, coolant level is fine etc.) but it is quite annoying.

I've had a few cars now that have made a slight gurgling sound in the heater core when you first turn the car on. Is that maybe what you're hearing? Usually it was still from a leak, or because I didn't fill the car up with enough coolant when I was bleeding it. First Gear is a pretty good shop from reputation, so I would assume they'd have done everything right.

I'd ask if you're smelling any coolant, but the suggestion will inevitably make you smell coolant. Check the heater hoses, since a 2002 is starting to get up there in years and they're pretty close to the turbo gear. If they're rock hard they need to be replaced.

Not sure how you would check if the heater core itself has a pinhole leak or something. You'd definitely be smelling that, though.

I was just going to mention this. There could very well be a pin hole leak, or it could just be the sound of the coolant going through your heater core.
Check your coolant level, keep an eye on it, any smells etc.
One way to test is to pressurize the system and check over all the lines.
Or pull vacuum on the system and hopefully pull any left over air bubbles trapped.

I will keep an eye on everything, thanks guys!

It's been forever, to burp the cooling system you fill up the plastic reservoir to the F line, fill the rad pretty much to the top and place a half full funnel in the other coolant tank. Then run the car, squeeze the rad hose a few times and watch the bubbles escape. Once there are no more bubbles escaping you are done. Correct?

Quick picture of the interior after finally cleaning it after the road trip. Also, my We Are Likewise Rod Stewart came in. I wasn't sure how I would like shifting with the shifter being this tall but I actually really like it.

I have decided to keep the Advans for this year, powder coat them and save for the wheels I really want and buy those next winter/spring.

With that being said I need to choose my powder coat color as they are going in tomorrow. I am pretty set on going with illusion purple but figured I would throw up a pole or open the floor to other ideas.

So, if not illusion purple, what color would you suggest? The wheel clinic is doing a deal right now on single stage powder coating so unfortunately no candies etc.

Puke green.

But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

Also, what should I do with the center caps. I am having trouble deciding what to do with them. They are metal so I will be getting them coated but should I color match them, do them black or something else?

As for centercaps, black matches everything and is easy.

So since all the colours I chose were not included in the discount and I couldn't choose between the two colours they showed me at the shop I decided to do one side of the car in Illusion Spanish Fly (like a metallic gold) and one side Illusion Purple. Once I see the colours on the car and outside in the sun I will decide to either match the other two wheels or just stick with the two faced look. I don't mind having some fun with colour as these will be my winter wheels next year.

Anyways, here are the two colours.

I've always liked the idea of running two faced, since I saw ritchie_rich doing it a few years back.

Haha that is actually the first car I saw do it and what made me like it as well. If I remember it was a white GR with gold on one side and silver on the other?

Correct! I think he was looking into colour matching, and ended up liking it. I can't remember the details, but I want to guess that he had to get some replacement rims, and could only find them in silver?

Got the wheels back yesterday and I couldn't be happier.

The clear coat was messed up on the purple wheels in a few corners so I brought them back in today and they are respraying them tomorrow.

Once I get them back I will throw on some tire shine and take some good photos. Until then here is a quick ittshay iPhone video to see the colors.

We also decided to keep the center silver as that way they matched the silver Model 7 emblems and I am pretty happy with how it looks.

Should I do black lug nuts now or go with a chrome/silver lug nut?

Those look amazing man, I love the purple!
I vote go silver lugs to match the center caps and badge.

Diggin those colors man, that purple looks like it really pops! Interested to see how it looks out in the sun!
That would look really good on a black car!

I still have some minor adjusting to do to get the car sitting perfect but here she is as of right now. Even after powder coating these wheels I just can't get myself to like them, will post them for sale or trade sometime soon and hopefully be running new wheels before mid summer. Honestly, I am thinking of going with the same wheels I had on my GC8 (Whistler KR1) but in full chrome and 18x8.5 et35. I will throw up a picture for reference:

DSC_0160_zps8iyddh4e by dylan juneau, on Flickr

IMG_1781 by dylan juneau, on Flickr

The wheels specs are 18x7.5 et45 and they are about 15mm sunk all around which doesn't look the greatest but it's actually kinda nice being low and not rubbing every two seconds due to super wide wheels haha.

Also, sorry for the ittshay, edited photo. I stole it from my Instagram as I haven't taken any real photos yet.

I am hoping I can get some help diagnosing a little problem I have been having recently.

Shortly after buying the car I would occasionally hear a small creaking noise from the steering wheel hub when turning, after installing my NRG hub this went away so I never thought about it again.

This weekend I drove out to Pigeon Lake and when I arrived the creaking started again but much louder and then turned to a creaking/grinding noise which would then make my steering wheel stick and stay in place. It isn't constant when turning the wheel but only at certain spots.

Initially when you are having steering issues you immediately think of all the suspension bits under the car but this noise is coming right from the steering wheel hub area.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Steering rack? Are the boots on it leaking?

I didn't see any signs of leaking and all the suspension parts and bushings look good as well.

This might be a long shot, but could the steering lock broken/sticky or partially engaged? Is it clicking/getting stuck ever 1/4 turn (I believe that’s about what the lock allows?).
