Any codes when you read what the CEL is for?
What car, year, mods?

If you have a Cobb accessport, it may be beneficial to take a data log and see what the engine is going through when the popping sound is happening. And if you already suspect it could be a boost leak, you can fabricate a boost leak tester with $25 worth of materials from Home Depot in 20 minutes and see if there is a real leak. With the current information provided, we are all shooting in the dark.
