Apex Legends
« on: February 06, 2019, 12:55:09 pm »
Been playing this game for 2 days now and I am really enjoying it so far.

Some of the things I am really enjoying
- Free to play
- Marking system is amazing
- 3 person squads seem like a really good balance
- The revive and redeploy system is well thought out
- Legend abilities make this game a bit more unique in the big group of Battle royals

Some things that need improving
-Where is the ammo and why am I consistently out of ammo
-Some legendary items seem a bit too powerful but this will change with time due to balance.

Everything about it is sick, except how slow I am at it still ;D

Love the sliding, special abilities, and way point / target markers. Don't like the cartoonism and I cannot land those insane Paladin headshots like in COD ;D ;D ;D

Free and cross platform? This looks cool. Is it similar in idea to Fortnite? I have it downloaded on my Switch, but I haven't actually played it yet.

It is not cross-platform and in no way similar to Fortnite unless you think similar is a battle royal and a shrinking zone.

Battle royale with a shrinking zone definitely throws it in the same garbage can.

...also the drop ship from above, scavenging for items/weapons among other things. I don't think its unfair to call it similar to fortnite/pupg/blackout etc etc. Its pretty much the exact sub game genre. I haven't played it yet but it kind of looks like a mashup of blackout and seige/overwatch with the character classes.

I guess I should have said it a bit better. Is it the same concept like every battle royal pretty much. It is not like Fortnite because there is no aspect to building and it is not in 3rd person.

Gave it a shot, second round I got top squad with a couple micless rando's. Its got potential, however the character design is kinda ehhh as are the skins. But hey, its free; and the original overwatch skins were pretty trash as well. The spotting system also does work quite well for communication without a mic.

I've got it installed and am trying to get better.

My hardest issue is determining which guns are stronger/better along with figuring out what type of ammo I need. It'll all come with time I'm sure, but if there's any video or guide out there for a noob like me post it up so I can watch while at work.

Oh... and we got killed by Shroud. We didn't give him much run for this money, but it was funny watching his stream play-back as they chased us down and Shroud yelling "he has a peacekeeper!!!"  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Think I might download this game and give it a try this weekend. I forget my Origin username but once I find it I will post it in here!

EDIT: I think my Origin ID is simply "dylanjuneau".

Downloaded and played a couple rounds last night.

I like the game but the hardest part about playing these games late is everyone knows the maps extremely well and I was like a chicken with my head cut off.

Definitely will be playing more.

Its not an easy game by any stretch. Give it some time and things will start to flow better.

Definitely not easy, especially since I am using an Xbox controller right now and you just can't compete with mouse and keyboard players on PC.

I would like to get better with a mouse and keyboard but it's hard cause I try to use them and I just get uckfayed up so bad it discourages me from wanting to keep learning haha.

I am sure you can still play well on a console controller. PC makes things a lot smoother with higher frame rates and less input lag.

I played a few rounds last night. It's alright - BR games aren't really my thing though. Finished 3rd squad a few times and 2nd once. Apex=Blackout>FN for me. Haven't played PUBG.

+1 for this. I've been playing games that aren't fps to help get used to using M&K but it's slow going.

I am sure you can still play well on a console controller. PC makes things a lot smoother with higher frame rates and less input lag.
The precision with a controller is significantly lower than with M&K though. It's easier to use a controller on XBox/PS because they have aim assist which PC doesn't allow.

Yeah, I tried playing a couple games of blackout and just regular bo4 multiplayer with a controller, and it's just not even close to fair haha.. Even with my lack of experience with keyboard and mouse, my reactions and precision are still a lot better just trying to get gud.

Well if anyone wants to play tonight let me know! I can be on for right around 7:00.

It's much easier learning a game with people you know with mics than with some random sholeasays who just get angry if you aren't on their level lol.
