Oh I definitely did, the man beside me is a good friend and I helped him put his car together. It was the first time we were on track together.

Sad to see the car in this state knowing I wont be putting the parts back on it. As Jesse said when I showed it to him... it's sad but pretty much the same state it ends every season in LOL he isn't wrong and I am going to do my best to ensure I am not pulling things apart at the end of next season (cause I will more than likely be towing it back to Edmonton and there will be nothing else I can do on my own at that point).

Currently just working on cleaning up the inside, the extinguisher fluid was a bit corrosive and there is some surface rust, sanding and repainting. Hopefully I can sell the shell to someone if not I will pull the extras off and sell them and get the CF roof out. Then send it out to be crushed.

Maybe I missed it... Have you announced the future plan for your STI in the thread?

No, it will come soon.

Hopefully I can sell the shell to someone if not I will... send it out to be crushed.

Ugh. I didn't actually think this would happen. It's like in Platoon where Elias takes a small crew into the jungle and the surfer guy gets shot, and he's like, Man, I didn't think I'd get shot.

Man, I didn't think you'd step away from your car.

Good luck with it all. Exciting news to hear you're moving back to AB. You look crazy happy in that champaign shot. Congrats on that!

PS... About that CF roof...

And that steering rack that wasn't for sale...

You know, working on the car today really makes me want to keep it and make it into something else lol... but I don't have the extra income for that. Only 1 project car at a time.

I doubt you will see those items come up for sale sorry lol.

Annie Tong is one of the better if not best photographer that comes out to CSCS, she does a wonderful job at catching the cars and atmosphere of the event. Below are some of her pictures.

well the boys over at Touge Tuning slipped out a picture and some people have put things together. I have decided to take over the Alchemist project that Chris had sitting at the shop. Since he had acquired 2 GR race ready cars this project was pushed to the side and ultimately we on the block to be sold. The car already had a cage (lighter than the one in my original car) fuel cell installed and key areas stitched/seam welded. Originally I was not going to go a head with this until the off season but blowing the motor sped things up.

This is why most parts will not be for sale. We will be working on doing things correctly this time around, no short cuts or sub par parts.

SO I am not sure if I should start a new build thread or should I just continue this and have like a break clean point??

Nice, congrats on the lateral move.  Your build didn't look like it had any shortcuts to me, but if you say so, it must be so.  All the best with this car!

I vote with starting a new thread.  Let your old car rest in the archives and release the new one from it's curse.

It _feels_ weirdly to me like a continuation... but I'm just 1 vote.

not to many care anymore it seems LOL....

This weekend I went down to Pontiac MI, for the Speed Ring Challenge with the Chris from Touge Tuning. all I can say is the Americans can run a pretty damn good event. seemed well organized and there wasnt a lot of rushing which seems to happen at the CSCS events. I did not race, I just crewed for Chris. Kinda a small taste of what will go on in 10 days down in Australia.

The cars that showed up were absolutely amazing each class was well rounded which made for a good show.

I have always wanted to see the Lyfe GTR in person, well I did that and they have the same luck I do. lap 1 they caught fire and their final lap ended in the wall. luckily the driver was ok and even the car looks to be in good shape minus some body work.

The Canjam Black storm STi took the fastest time of the weekend and set the new track record along with winning 20k USD.

another video of Grossi in his 07 STi, he won the track mod class, canadians rocked it down there.

Definitely start a new thread! A little superstition in there for sure, but it -is- a new car. Throw up a couple posts about the transition and keep going!
It kind of seems like the best of both worlds really, you don't have to constantly be going back to the old car for something else again, and you can stay in the family  ;D

Just start with, these next few WTAC posts will be the last of this build. I feel its only right as it is the only reason I am here at WTAC right now.

I was given an opportunity of a life time to go to WTAC and crew for a subaru team, now its not a crazy one you may have seen all over WTAC pages before but the build is VERY similar to mine, Alcons F/R, Built blocks, both were using EFR 7163 at the time, dry sumps and both had similar views on many points. All I was asked to do is pay for the flight and everything else would be covered. All I can say right now is Idin has be an amazing host and great person to get to know face to face rather than over the phone and FB.

Pre WTAC (today) we had a test day, we did find a gremlin and still have not 100% nailed it down. We will be working quickly and on the fly tomorrow to fix the issue as soon as we are 100% sure what is causing the car to run lean under heavy load in 6th gear. right now signs look like a relay over heating.

Video of me taking the car off the trailer... the trailer also had a new NSX, GTR and something else i missed.

Did you drill the rivets on the VIN plate in the engine bay for a keepsake/keychain?

The rivets have Subaru stamped into them, so I wanted to keep it complete, car was sent off to be crushed today.

We kept the VIN plates off the original Laggin Wagon and my GF8 after we parted them out and shipped the shells away too, it’s a cool keepsake.

Loved the build man, excited to see what's next.
The 3 is raw.  Lighter than more agile.  The 6 probably feels like a 747.  And by that contrast, my STI probably feels like the Hindenburg.  So GR's are like the International Space Station.

Did I.miss what was wrong with the shell?

Has it been scrapped? Was it able to be registered?
