Might be time to start running Mazda filters.. :D
They're going to park their car over there. You're going to park your car over here. Get it?

My parts guy  bought 6 of these last week from Calgary Subaru for me. At least 5 are affected. I need to check the one on my car. I also need to stop using these....

Hmm... There was someone who had an issue with oil leaking around the filter.

Just checked the one I had lying at home:

I have to check the one on my car too :(

I checked the only one I've got which appears to just be an old Honeywell with an S-date code.

Does Honeywell own Fram now? I seem to remember something about that.

Yes. Every FRAM filter I get here at work is shipped from Honeywell across the border.
Honeywell owns like 50% of the Oil filter manufacturing plants.

I've got 5 in stock right now and one on each car that are all recalled.  Been smelling oil lately on my T-leg, thought it was my power steering, or just regular T-leg smell! Guess I'll be crawling under there tomorrow!

It looks like an end for me  of using "Genuine" oil filters.
Perhaps will switch to Wix...

So a recall is what finally pushed you over the edge?
If you thought they were fine before, then why is a single run recall changing your mind?
Every manufacturer of everything ever has had a recall of some kind, including entire subaru model lineups.

I'd switch because a) they're fram, and 7) they're itshay (which might be the same as point a, but is worth repeating)

This is just uckfaying retarded. Picked up a filter at Subaru city not 15 minutes ago and its one of the recall ones... Do these Edmonton dealerships even care anymore...

Like the recall was over a month ago...

Went in at lunch and talked to the parts manager. They have received recalls on The oil filters but the only ones they have been told of are the last 3 date codes on the right column of the recall posted above. So either fram is being extra safe or Subaru is cutting some corners.

They were fine with giving me a refund and I went and got a Napa gold to be on the safe side.

I've switched over to Napa Golds filters now. Guess I now have no reason to goto the  dealership anymore.

I stopped by the dealership this week pick up an oil filter and look at the numbers and sure enough it's on the recall list. I question the parts guy about it and he says someone else was In the week before with the same Fram recall list he says that subaru has confirmed everything is ok even though its on the list. Idk what is going on but it's really frustrating with Fram and subaru :pissed  off

On a side note not sure if anyone else has read into the 09-10 Mazda rx8 oil filter fitting our cars with the proper bypass pressure and made by Tokyo roki except a little longer in length. Sounds promising! Has anyone tried this ?

Regarding recalled filters still being sold by dealers, FYI...
Quote taken from another subaru site that is stupid and doesn't have any forums visible unless you have a login.

Yep, there were some batches of filters that went through a recertification process at FHI before they made it into the distribution stream. Any that were shipped out to distribution centres or beyond were destroyed.

If you have a filter that's within the recall batch range, you can identify an inspected-good filter by a little white paint mark on the clear plastic wrapper near the batch number. I've attached a photo of one such filter that I have on my shelf right now.

So before I found ^^ this out from Snackers I actually made a call to subaru of Canada to find out what the h is going on, a few days go by and I finally get a call back and I question them on the recall the lady says what recall and I say the oil filter recall. I realize what a dummie she is and the long and short of it she claims that all the filters were apparently destroyed and that even if the lot # s match the parts people know what to look for to see if they are bad. It sounds to me like hardly any of these oil filters were ever destroyed.
