Who makes the material for that firewall mat? I think I need a similar material to go between the gas tank and the body on the Coronet.

Its a trunk liner for a Tesla model 3, I got it off some guy on kijiji but I think they're also on Amazon

dat music choice.

What is the purpose of the line coming off the filter to the aluminum block (maybe a solenoid?) in the back (front)? Difficult to make out. Fuel line anti-bubble?

Oops left the music in...

It's a vacuum line going to the Idle Air Control Valve on the back. I'm still running a cable throttle so you need this valve to control startup/cold idle. Non fly-by-wire subies have them too (i.e. EJ20G, EJ20K and EJ207).

FYI on the back of the shroud you have IACV and MAP.

thats a stepper motor for the filtered bypass air? interesting. Maybe not stepper? Does the EFI computer drive the IACV as well?

Where are you sourcing signal for the MAP? averaging the two with a tee, a canister, or two separate MAPs? tbh it kind of looks like you only have one tap on each TB at the bottom and none on the intakes, which are both attached to the iacv, then the MAF signal is coming off the top of the IACV block. were it me, id want to tie that signal in as far away from the idle air source as possible.

Yup the ECU drives the EFI and IACV and the sequential ignition.

The lines go from all 4 throttle bodes below the butterfly into a camber in the IACV and the MAP pics it up from there

I agree, if its a bad signal I'm going to put in a new vacuum reference below the throttle bodies using this (from the old build):

even if you just teed the big vac line right at the existing port on the TBs. Should cut down on "vacuum losses" from the IACV significantly if you find its a problem.

Work has kept me ridiculously busy lately so updates are slowing, but got the fuel system started and painted a few things and working on the wiring loom.

Finally new bumpers (3 year long back order for them) and which do you think I should go with yellow headlights or plain silver?

Spent nights sewing the edges on this guy and painting the engine bay

Starting to route the fuel pump and lines, this will be different soon too

Setting up the mil-spec harness, this a VERY slow process of checking my work, and rechecking my work

oof barrel pins and cannon plugs. I can only handle so much porn in the middle of the day.
My vote is silver on the headlight. I feel the yellow gets lost in the colour of the paint and in some way gives it too much of a French vibe. Which is heresy to a German, ja mien fuhrer?

+1 silver vote.

Looks more refined, clean. Yellow looks almost faded, takes away from how tidy the rest of the car is.
The 3 is raw.  Lighter than more agile.  The 6 probably feels like a 747.  And by that contrast, my STI probably feels like the Hindenburg.  So GR's are like the International Space Station.

+1 Silver. I'm normally pro yellow, but it doesn't fit the aesthetic for me.

I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

Agreed. If the car were blue, that would be one thing.

Some updates

Finished the engine harness but need another mil-spec connector set (miss judged the number of wires)

Sound insolation all the things

And finally moved past test fitting final fitment here

Also re-carpeted all the floors. This was a ton of work with harsh glue, but necessary since the chassis harness runs under the carpet (Also some Coco mats to top it off). What you don't see is a metric ton of sound deadening (EVERYWHERE). Driving this car was oppressively loud, from stock you get rubber mats on bare metal floors. Things just echo'd until you'd hate life.

Cocomats are classy! I wanted to do the orange-black ones for my Miatas but never got around to ordering them.

Small update while waiting for remaining mil-spec harness parts

New Bilsteins on all 4 corners, new engine mounts, and a new suspension bar system

Also you can see part of the chassis loom there for the tail lights

I have a very similar basket in the mini.

Whilst the machining of the shifter base gives me a semi-mongrel, that wire basket is a thing of beauty. I can just see the lack of friction on the carpet allowing it to slowly slide sideways, mid-turn, emptying my open beer into the passenger foot well. Obviously it's a harder turn than usual because I was forced to put my beer down.

No, we're not all 97 years old and from the land of criminals.
