Baku was a strategic race, but there's nothing really strategic about reversing into someone in a parking lot.

I think the strategy was "Sink the Torpedo". Not really sure why that was the strategy, but yeah...

Well, your orientation is correct.

I can't remember if I posted Palmer's analysis' yet, but they're fantastic.  Him and ChainbearF1 have been great insights:

Ha!  Well, if they got anything right this weekend, it was the post-race interview on the podium.

Garbage call by the stewards. Absolute trash. I'm glad the officiating in F1 is as inconsistent as it is in the NHL this season.

I don't agree with the call, there was nothing Seb could have done. I think the stewards called the rule to the letter of the law in how it is written, he left the track and made an unsafe reentry, albeit as I say to none of his doing other than misjudging the corner and going for a ride across the grass.
However, that corner is still a very old school type of design, all grass, little to no run-off area. They should push the fence back there and pave the runoff area, then the rule would make a lot more sense as Seb could have controlled his car all the way allowing Hamilton to pass.

I think the challenge that the stewards faced was that without a penalty, Seb basically didn't lose anything despite making an error. Is it fair that Hamilton lost his chance to overtake because Seb ran wide? No, of course not. But that's racing. Stewards interfering with the results based on an honest mistake by Seb just leaves a sour taste in the mouths of fans everywhere. What a itshay call. And apparently they've added 2 points to his license after the race because he switched the signs in parc ferme. Seriously? ffs. ::)

Yes it is racing. It could have been Hamilton seeing where Seb's car is going and cutting to the inside, he would have blown past him if that was the case as well. It was a racing incident, it's not as though Seb was trying to cut him off. It basically took away the excitement of the rest of the race because why would Hamilton think of even attempting an overtake if all he had to do is stay within 5 seconds. I would have enjoyed Seb backing Hamilton up into Leclerc a bit more because of this and upping the pressure that way, but it was too late into the race for that kind of a strategy.

Either way, it's a good bit of politics with the FIA which is part of the fun of F1.

Haha, I loved it too, but you knew they weren't going to let that one go.  I also found it amusing that no one fixed it.

Bold Predictions:
Ocon in a Merc before the end of the season.
First time since 2013 a team other than a big 3 wins.
Haas consistently fighting for podiums, maybe a win?!?!!?

1/3 of the way through, update to bold predictions
-Bottas has done waaaayyyy more than enough to keep his assay in the Merc, so no Ocon
-Gut still tells me a midfield team (maybe Renault) has a car to win
-Haas blows, Renault have the 4th place car and with a little improvement they could be the team to fight for podiums.

Bonus Prediction - Gasly out of a ride before seasons end (He was always a horrible choice).

I would like to see StoffelWaffle given a second chance. I wonder if RB can get him out of whatever McLaren contract he has remaining?

Anyone else surprised at the driving within Haas? At the end of last season, I was shocked Romain retained a seat with them. This year, he's doing fairly well and KMag is in hot water every other weekend.

Hahaha, poor Steiner.

I would also like to see Vandoorne given a second chance.  Chainbear said it best, Vandoorne was fired for not being as fast as Alonso, and Alonso quit for not being as fast as Alonso.

On another topic, Grosjean says Gokarting is more demanding than F1 on the body:

Yeah, Vandoore got done raw.

I don't like Grosjean, so he can go back to carts for all I care.

Yes he deserve a seat, had a great drive at le mans (btw if anyone ever wants to go watch live it's on my race bucket list) and other than the Hybrid Toyota's which were always going to win he showed he is the best driver not in F1.

Thought about it some more and Haas really needs a good driver, the car is not reaching its full potential. Romain is a great driver when he is on but he is soooo inconsistent even with the same race.
