Oh yeah, about that.  After the highs of a day gone well, I went home and packed the car up full of studded tire and co.  Then fb msg'd the crew about hitting up coffee in the morning:

Much sadness ensued.

I propose we get drunk on Tuesday instead of the usual Tims, to mourn the loss of this race season.

You had me at drunk.

I also have the rest of the meth kit pieces for you, I may be able to help out with the install as well. It's been awhile, but past me can re-educate current me.

I should note that we haven't bolted the skid plate up yet so the possibility exists that the measurements may need some tweaking.

Heres a pic pre drilling that might make the layout for the slotted holes easier to see:

And a pic of the exhaust work while the car was on a nice 20 degree angle.

It did occur to me that if we get refunds for the last two events, I could almost buy another one of those rum bottles.  You left behind a fantastic How-To, but I will gladly accept help too :)

And a pic of the exhaust work while the car was on a nice 20 degree angle.

I'm so glad you posted that :)  So far...  My wife hasn't noticed.

Thanks man!  Being that the exit is only 3", I was worried it might look too small.  But pics of your old car helped reassure me that this was the path to take.

You're full of surprises.

You're invited.  Bring your gun.  Lets shoot stuff.  But to clarify, everyone else can get drunk if they want.  I'll just have half a beer until it's too warm to drink, and then toss the rest because I can't hold my liquor (but really, it's because the beer got warm).

If you ever want company while you get around to your rack, you know where to find me Dan.

But seriously, if you do want company, I'll try to be there.

Nevermind!

Straight pipe first, now you want to mix alcohol and firearms.

You're intense.

He's going fully off the chain now that he's got a little taste of rallycross in him.

Pretty soon he'll be arc-welding straps of angle iron onto stripped out Ranger frames using reclaimed batteries so he can fab ghetto side by sides for the post-Trump end of the world.

I still think we should put a 3" velocity stack on the end. They're pretty cheap on ebay.

Dat shaky cam tho. I'm jealous. I can't even look into my plans until the car is out of storage.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

Cut the tip off the stock STi exhaust & slap it on the end of the straightpipe?  Or would that require tweaking so it comes out non-angled?

That's a great idea.  I did sell the stock exhaust a while back, but if I come across another one, I may be tempted.  To be honest though, while the double walled tips are nice and refined, there's something raw about the simplicity of the pipe sticking out that I find appealing.

I also had a very picky customer

Unfortunately, picky and indecisive.

I am just as sad as you are about the loss of ice dice. I'm feeling a little empty inside :(

Thanks again~

I'm also feeling empty.  :(  I did not want to go into work at all today.

Steering Rack Bushings:

They feel weird.  During low speeds, it almost feels delayed and then overcompensating in the turn.  Under high speeds, they're very responsive.  Not sure if I like it, but I'll get used to it.  Another downer, despite having marked the UJoint and spline, and reassembling as marked, my wheel still ended up off centre.  Ohwell; Thanks again, Canuckrz!

To describe it better, the steering feels heavy in the initial turn.  But the resistance disappears and becomes really easy to turn after 10 degrees.

This is during 0-60km/hr.

Is that normal?

That was the impression I got. The steering rack bushings give you a little heavier on-centre feel, which is probably useful during rapid transitions on a fast rack.

It might be better when you really bag on it, but the Seat Safety Switch Reports test track was closed today for snow clearing.

Cool, thanks SSS. It's different and I'm not sure if I like it, but... No turning back now!

I could certainly see myself wrapping around a tree before I adjust to it.

Quick update, and more obscure cool tools eye candy for SSS than anything.  Here's how it hung before:

And here's how it hangs now: (in textual story mode, because I didn't take a picture)

Curtis' first hanger idea didn't work as well as we hoped, and just like my grandmother's face, gravity won.  So the exhaust sagged down a bit, but I texted him that the exhaust dropped a bit.  And I think he thought that I meant the hanger broke off.

Anyway, he built a new hanger which is super pretty and painted black.  But more importantly, if anyone wants a roll cage, he has a tool for that.

No pics of the finished product...

One week review of this straight pipe, it burbled and popped more after reinstalling it today, which is exciting.  My only complaint is that it's not loud enough.
