Hmmm well everythings going swimmingly, except ive developed a clunk in my back end somewhere.
It usually sounds like its coming from back right corner.
Anyone here had to replace diff mount subframe bushings? Is there a way to tell theyve gone bad besides order of elimination? What were your symptoms? The play in the driveshaft feels normal... maybe like 10 degrees at the outside? Damper stanchions arent loose, so I dont think either is broken.. No broken springs that I can see. Car still sits fine and handles gr8.
Basically my moneys between rear diff and diff bushings, but I dont know how to choose.
It clunks when I shift gears too fast. I can get it to not clunk by shifting really gently. Its the worst going into second gear, pretty noticeable going into 3rd, and sometimes happens I think? going into 4th. Once im in gear, I cant duplicate it by clutching/declutching. So I need to be accelerating, clutching, then essentially slowing down the motor with the drive train. Its just a single clunk noise. Based on the symptoms im leaning towards the diff itself clunking as it brakes my engine when i disengage clutch with engine rpm too high... But maybe not???
The cause is probably age, but might be the undue stress I put it through.
Oh also it turns out that temp sensor works. It just responds REALLY slowly in the software, so I swapped it in a parking lot in Quesnel, was disappointing because it gave me the exact same temp as the last one, then drove home. When I got home, I noticed the temp was a lot more accurate, and a couple days later I decided it was bang on. Now I just gotta mount it away from the toasty assay engine.
