Data logging on 2000 JDM STi
« on: November 02, 2015, 01:06:56 pm »
I recently purchased a 2000 JDM WRX STi (GH-GDB) bug eye.

I live way up north in Yellowknife and was hoping to get it looked at prior to getting home to check the air/fuel, boost and general integrity of my motor but I won't be able to with my limited time before I need to be back home.

Ive only basically picked up the vehicle and driven it to a parking spot then had to go to work. It seems to run fine (slight oil smell which is concerning) but all in all it looks and feels good.

Im looking for some advice on data logging her by myself just to check over things (not to run a different tune at this point)

Can anyone point me at a thread that would help with this ? Im all ears.

My guess is that a tactrix 1.2 cable + romraider/openecu will work for u. I have one if u want. Where are u at now? If in calgary, we can try it out before u go back up north. PM me.

Should be the same as an 02-05 WRX, since the ECU can be swapped in & tuned (source: carguyjon & ultimatt's builds)

I just so happen to have that page open as I was looking into this myself:

http://www.romraider.com/Documentation/RomRaiderFAQ#toc8

It looks like you will also need a reflash connector for the bugeyes, or you can jump the two wires:

http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.php/Knowledge/ConnectingToYourECU

There appear to be two different reflash connectors if you want to go the simple clean route which you can apparently just leave plugged in, to make sure to confirm which P/N is the one you need before you order.

Note, you shouldn't need any reflash connectors just to log. Only to read/flash the rom.

So does that mean someone like Sunny can do a open source tune on the ECUs

I think they can be open sourced but from what I have read Cobb does not support any JDM ECU's.

Yeah I am not surprised though. My issue is the only other option is A ECUTek tune by Lightspeed .... *SHUDDER*

Open source is a good way to tune.
