Picked up this bogging stuttering Miata for racing, fully stock, except exhaust for the moment. I have a stock cat I am ordering to weld back into place. I brought her home and redid the timing from scratch. She now purrs and pulls hard.
1990 Mazda Miata 1.6L Manual with 270,000 and climbing.
The previous owner had the belts replaced, new injectors, sparkplug wires, sparkplugs, coolant temperature sensor, maf, air filter. O2 was replaced by me and a friend before I even drove it home.
Planning on keeping her in ES for at least one year. So the only things I am doing are Koni yellow sport with stock springs (Koni yellows ordered and shipped from warehouse), replace the test pipe with a stock cat (also ordered but has not been shipped yet), maybe tires sometime, an alignment, maybe a bigger swaybar in the future after an event or two. And last but not least paint.
The softtop is still in a box and requires me to install it. Will probably be installed just prior to the next AutoX event so I can have fun without banging my helmet off the hardtop if I sit up a little.
I would be painting the hardtop as well.
I do require a battery tie down hopefully before the next AutoX event so I can pass tech. Just need to find the parts.
A new shift boot too would be nice.
Previous owner started sanding Lola down to repaint her, but lost interest and now shes mine to finish the job.
Honestly if I could somehow keep that sketch on the quarters I would because it was actually pretty well done. I may attempt to save it when I repaint the vehicle.
There will be updates as I piece her together, and paint. I still need to get rocker panels to fix the only bit of rust left on the vehicle.
