Dylan's 2002 RevD Legacy GTB E-Tune - SOLD
« on: November 21, 2017, 09:31:59 pm »
Blowing the engine in the Forester was the best thing to happen to me this year as it gave me an excuse to finally get back into a turbo'd, manual Subaru.

With that being said let me introduce my 2002 RevD Legacy GTB E Tune. The car has 139xxxkm, absolutely zero rust, zero scratches, zero dents or anything. I have honestly never seen a JDM car in such good condition before. I got the car for a pretty good deal especially after I noticed a few things with the car.

I don't think the previous owner new exactly what he had or what parts were on the car. The car came with four Defi Advance BF 60mm gauges w/ controller and some pretty rare (but quite ugly) Advan AVS Model T7 wheels that I guess were pretty damn expensive in their time (discontinued in 2009) and a few other goodies I have yet to fully investigate.

Anyways, my plans for this car are basically keep the engine stock and do my usual stuff. Straight pipe it with some sort of unique exhaust, drop it to the ground and throw on some cool wide wheels. I have a set of Work VS KF's in the works right now that I may be picking up shortly.

I went to Invision's yesterday and picked up a few things that I always do to a car immediately. Bought my 4th Nardi Deep Corn steering wheel, NRG short hub and quick release and I kept my We Are Likewise shift knob from the GC8. Also went and bought a Yakima roof rack along with a Yakima cargo box.

On to some pictures. Sorry, they are all iPhone photos and I just suck at getting any sort of good interior pictures.

Awesome find. The defi's really match the cluster, and I'm amazed at how modern that cluster is, considering the 2002+ Impreza/WRX/Forester dash and cluster look so dated and mediocre.

But man, those are the super rare and expensive wheels? They look like those cheap Motegi's that are on every Civic out there. I hope you get good money from them.

Honestly, seeing the wheels on the car, they look better than the 90's website.

If I was ever going to pick up a JDM subaru, the GTB would be it, thanks to cbxj.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.

Thanks guys! I am very happy with the car so far. Not a ton of aftermarket support for them but like I said, I don't plan on doing much either than lowering it and wheels. Want to keep this car as reliable as can be for road trips etc.

I was actually very surprised when I sat in it and started it for the first time. The pictures don't really do the cluster justice, it looks as if it could be in a car made in 2015 or what not.

And sadly, yes, those are the expensive and rare wheels haha. My buddy said he probably has a few drift/JDM fan boys that would love them just for the name/model so hopefully I can get a few bucks out of em.

Haha not yet....I am booked in at ABC this Saturday to get the exhaust done. My friend gave me some exhaust tips to use that he picked up in Japan but I am undecided if I will use them or not yet. My girlfriend loves them and they are definitely different but may even be a bit much for me haha.

uckyfay that paint is amazing. And yeah, I love the interior on this era...feels pretty damn upscale considering. Too bad we never got a LHD version...I love me a wagon.

I kinda want one now.

I don't plan on doing them again. They weren't really that popular here yet back when I had them, now half of the JDM cars I see have them so I am over it.

Plus, the car is long enough as it is haha.

The gauge cluster is reminiscent of what i have on my Spec B... which IMO seems modern even by today's standards :o

Haha yea, no more of that for me.

It is still going to be different but nowhere near as obnoxious as my blast pipes were.

I actually have a question for you guys.

I am getting the car straight piped from the cat back (3 inch) but the tips I was planning on using are dual 2 inch tips. Will going from 3" to 2" at the tip change or muffle the sound by a substantial amount? I don't want to lose that deep throaty rumble by using a smaller tip, unless I am just talking out of my assay here haha.

So for clarity it will be a 3" straight pipe into a 2" Y pipe with dual 2" tips on it.

I'm no acoustic expert, but I don't think that will affect the sound.

Congrats on the acquisition! The interior and exterior look awesome. I love everything about it but the wheels. Hopefully you can get a nice buck for them and put some nicer ones on!

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

I'm with LDS, the wheels aren't horrible on it. The colour is, wheels and car. I hate white on cars though, as a rule. It is pretty clean though, a nice change from most of these seen around Calgary.

Why not just put the stock wheel back on when you sell the cars and then move the wheel to the next car?

They look like those cheap Motegi's that are on every Civic out there. I hope you get good money from them.
I know the ones you're talking about and definitely see the resemblance. These ones imo are better however in the amount of depth the wheels have with the spoke design, and not being a flat color. Certainly not the best looking wheels ever, but I don't think they look bad either.

Problem!

I went to swap my wheels over but found out I don't have a key for the unique lug nuts on the car. I called a few places and no one has them. I spoke to Gerald at Invision and went in as he thought he may have something and I guess it turns out that the lugs on the car were specially made to go along with the Advan wheels.

Does anyone know how to remove lugs without the proper key hopefully without ruining the lugs but if they have to be ruined so be it. I want to get my studded 16's on ASAP with this freezing rain situation we have here.

Honestly, to save some money I did consider just powder coating these wheels and running a 15mm spacer or so but I am still not sure. I would rather not spend $500 on powder coating and still end up hating them haha.

I am assuming you checked all the typical lug key location spots (glove box, ripped apart the entire trunk, ect.)

Problem solved. Found it hidden in one of the weird compartments in the hatch of the car under a bunch of Japanese itshay haha. Feelin like a pretty big idiot right now.  ::) Must have just overlooked it yesterday when I was looking.
