I have been trying to figure out a cupholder situation for the Corolla for awhile, and I never thought of one of those. I've never seen them in a car before only on the shelf at crappy tire, but man that would be perfect for the car. Thanks for the idea!

Haha this was actually already in the car from Stephen, I wonder if he wants it back... It does work well though, I wouldn't use it for coffee or anything with an open top but for a water bottle and what not it works just fine.

I wasn't planning on picking up an OEM hardtop this year as they are quite expensive but a member from another forum reached out to me and offered me his hardtop for a price that I couldn't refuse. So today I picked that up and while at his place I saw he had a Garage Vary front lip sitting there so I took that home with me as well.

The top is structurally perfect but it will need to be painted as it has a less than great matte black rattle can paint job. The lip is also damn near perfect but I didn't get any photos of it installed yet. I will get some tomorrow, but here are a few with the new hardtop.

I also found some 2x10's laying around in my shed and quickly threw together some DIY ramps to make things easier for me. I wish I would have made the spaces between each height a bit longer but it worked nonetheless.

Finally got around to installing my hardtop properly by cutting the holes in the interior to gain access to the striker mounting points. This was a lot easier to do as the template of where to cut is stamped on the backside of the plastics by Mazda.

Used a hole saw and a Dremel and did an alright job. The strikers are much larger than the hole so you don't see the rough cuts anyways. I tried to sand down the edges to make it cleaner but my Dremel only had one speed and one bit so it just kind of tore it up.

Also, as should always been done when tricky pieces are out of the car, give them a good cleaning.

I also would like your guys help with choosing something as I am having a hard time. I really want to update the interior a little bit while still keeping it period correct and I think Rev Limiter gauges do a great job accomplishing that. I am having troubles choosing which ones to go with though.

I very much like the Circuit gauges and HVAC panel but I am worried that the numbers may look a bit too cartoony for lack of a better word.

Which gauges do you think will look the best?

What do you guys think and which do you think will fit well with the interior currently. I know it is all tan and black but the Nardi pieces do have the red stitching so a little red isn't a bad thing.
Personally I think you should go for the one that matches your windshield decals.

I would go something more classic, in keeping with the interior. Stirling or Spyder are examples.

+1 for Doge.

But otherwise I'd go for GT-40 or Stirling.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

Here is a ittshay picture with the new front lip on, this color is really starting to grow on me. I don't know why the quality went to itshay when posted, they were taken with a DSLR and look great everywhere except for when I post it here..

My Nardi Prestige knob finally came in and the interior is much cleaner now. The We Are Likewise knob really ruined the classic look of the car. Like everything Nardi makes the quality is impeccable.

Sorry for the dark photo, it is all I have at the moment.

Beautiful car.  Front lip looks nice :)

The rims remind me of the stock rims on the RX-7 FD.

I can't believe how hard it was to find a set of clear side markers for this car but I finally sourced a set of 4 from MX5 Mania in Australia. Very happy with how they look.

I think it might be time to move this car to my other garage for storage.

I know this has been covered before but what precautions should I take when storing the car? It will be stored in a garage without heat.

The car will have a full tank of gas to prevent condensation, a automatic trickle charger and a car cover. What else should be done? I knew this was covered before but I did a search and couldn't find the thread.

Remove battery, dump in a bottle of fuel stabilizer, steel wool in the exhaust to prevent critters from nesting and I usually do an oil change prior to storage and then when taking out of storage in the spring. And then leave it alone, starting it up every so often is of absolutely no benefit and just causes unnecessary wear.

I do almost none of that.

For my S2000, I top off the tank, hook up a tender, and leave it be.
For my Mini, I top off the tank, park it outside, remove the battery, throw a car cover on it, and leave it be.
For my bike, I top off the tank, hook up a tender, and leave it be.

I don't do an oil change until the spring. Synthetic oils last 12 months anyways before shearing down, so I'm not worried about it.

Yeah, I'm with smurf, You don't need to do much. I'd say bring the battery into your basement, top up the tank, and change oil in the spring. No point in doing it twice.

Oil is probably good for a change in the spring or you do it now. It is synthetic and probably has under 1000km on it.

I wouldn't park it just yet. We will still have a few nice cruising days left in the year.

If you’re only going to change the oil once, I’d do it when you park it so it’s not sitting for 6+ months with contaminated/dirty oil. I’ve always done it before and after just for piece of mind, with how much a jug of oil costs. *shrugs*

This has always been my thinking as well. Contaminated oil just sitting in the engine for 6 months seems wrong. Change in fall and its ready to drive in the spring.

Miatas are pretty resilient. Before I parked mine for 2ish years, I did nothing. The fuel was 1/2 full, oil wasn't brand new, no battery charger, no car cover. Battery needed charging before I started it up, but other than that, it was fine.

Just some fuel stabilizer.

Either battery tender or pull the battery and bring indoors.

Change oil before parking.

Spring time: check air pressure, start up and drive.

I have had my RX-7 parked for almost 4 years, and expect to get to it and just fire it up.  But will need new tires (due to age).
