Did the steel wool leave scratches in your exhaust?
I recall when I cleaned my tips with BBQ polish + 0000 Steel Wool there were very fine scratches in certain areas that I really had to work.

You can also use a heavy duty degreaser to break down the exhaust soot as well. I typically use this for the insides and never have to polish the inside on my personal cars.

Hmmm. I used the 0000 on the inside and around the rolled edge. Didn't notice any fine scratches. But it was light pressure and mostly the compound. On the inside though I went ham(small)fist.

Oh yeah, you mentioned. Damn, I forgot. ZEP 505 degreaser, right? I'll see if I can more of the gunk out with it.

Team, I have a question. When should I change my spark plugs? I'm at 160k and I feel like it's time...would old plugs explain cold engine hesitation in first and second gear under 3000 rpm? It does this weird slight chug, even on hot days like today. When the engine is up to operating temp it doesn't happen really.

My buddy had hesitation issues at 160,000 in his 2.5i... except his issue was really bad, it would throw CEL's and his engine would occasionally stall.

Changed the spark plugs, and it fixed the issue
