FTFY  ;)

Eh there's so much debate over this. Both have their merits. I just dislike crimps for stuff like this because they take up more space even when done properly... if you can get 24AWG ones it's not so bad
vs. the pink 18-22AWG commonly sold.

I just wanna drive and blast P.Diddy...

I also just did my tax return, got some goodies on order.

How about the VA?  ;)

Solder and heat shrink my man.

;D ;D

Everything on the VA is heat shrink'd (custom hella horn harness I made from scratch)!!   But all of the lighting mods are plug n play with vampire / T tap connectors (which I know kinda suck but I had to keep it per the instructions for the sponsors), but some of them are having issues so this Spring the plan is to go back and take all those out and properly solder all those.

What's the method for shrinking around a T connection after solder? I can't really get it onto the wires because they're part of the OE harness and I don't wanna mess it up, but I guess it's already cut from the tap so should I just cut it, slip shrink on, then run the new wire parallel ?

Or... you could tell the sponsor to come up with a better solution before peddling it.

Yeah, having crimps back there would take up so much space, where it was already at a minimum.

Tax return goodies are best goodies.

Something about deck and square corners into round corner trim

My deck also had this issue. It had quite pronounced square edges, ended up lightly filing away material until it fit.

You gotta shrink over the metal terminal so it doesn't corrode. 50% mark.

You can't shrink over a middle T connection unless you de-pin it. So electrical tape will work in this case. And yes. There's no electrical difference when it comes to tapping into the OEM harness.

So Canuckrz has a gigantic meat paw at the end of his arm, so the shift knob naturally one of these:

It was a little big for my tastes. Also, you'll notice with extension, the shift boot is free to flop around. The flange nut that's visible serves to lock the extension from rotation from it's desired
orientation via double nutting:

I did some searching, and there is a solution to this!
EBay/Amazon didn't yield any suitable shifter boot collars so I decided to fork some money over.

https://www.grimmspeed.com/shift-knob-5spd-shift-boot-retainer/

Here's a shot of the whole assembly:
Kartboy FXT short shifter -> flange nut -> Grimmspeed retainer -> extension.

The bent extension adds some leverage so I decided to go for a smaller, lighter knob. Killer B Motorsports "Type R" delrin. Kinda has this EP3 Honda SiR / rallycar feel to the interior now.

And a shot of the bling bling retainer, which I find completes the look quite nicely and makes for a nice transition from shift boot to extension...

Good choice.

I had a bullet knob in the BRZ. Loved it.

I got the knob mostly because it was from the same ebay seller as the extension I wanted so shipping was next to nothing to throw it on the order. I intended to replace it with a wc lathe werks knob or similar, but never got around to it.

I still maintain that spherical is the only proper choice for shift knobs, but that is a lot more acceptable than most of the trash kids these days are prancing around with.

I have one of these kicking around my shed if you need something a little more intimidating bud.

Top even screws off so you can put different weights in it/hide your stash. ;)

Mild update.

Fixed a leak from the turbo. Coolant drain and oil drain. Coolant drain hose clamps looked tight, still wept. One day I came out to a good sized puddle on the driveway and the overflow mostly empty.
Replaced that hose with one Canuckrz left me. Woop.

Second leak, same deal, I think it's been weeping a while. Warm temps and harder driving probably let more out. It settled on the skidpan, coupled with some rain, manifested itself last night. Took off the skid pan,
cleaned everything up, tightened up the clamp. Will monitor.

Some things happened this weekend in the hopes to discover the leak. I saw a small pool near the PCV so I decided to head in that direction.

This came out:

And this area was sprinkled mildly with expletives

I snuck a few 1/4in extensions to get at the clamp, good placement.

I also tightened the upper clamp on the turbo oil drain hose. Hopefully it stops leaking. What a isspay off. I wonder if it was because I switched to Motul from Brotella, it somehow seeps through the pores of the EJ.

On a lighter note;

This guy raced up in a GMC Subruhban and flashed me a huge thumbs up.

And I met bigdark for some BBT last week. Twinsies!

The journey continues.

Thanks to Evo_Precision (yes, he's still on here) for helping me fix this elbow on the Fozzy. He was in town so he stopped by with his BRZ to help me.

Much to our dismay, the old elbow was brittle in some places and elastic in others. I did the Canuckrz™ trademark hammer test and part of it flew into space. We had to mutilate part of it with a razor blade to get enough room to yank it off the crankcase breather port.

The new elbow:

Hi everyone.

On April 7th 2021 I said goodbye to the Forester XT.

I was travelling eastbound on 12th Ave by Keynote/Cowboys Casino. I waited for my light to turn green, and then as I proceeded through the intersection, another motorist struck the Fozzy right on the fuel
door. I was immediately OK - just moved the car out of the way and checked on the other motorist. Thankful they were okay as well. She was apologetic, and apologized profusely stating she didn't see that
her light was red.

Some other notes:
It was on my birthday, I was on vacation that week so it was smack dab at 3:30pm
The rear wheel had so much positive camber, full drift spec from impact. The rear strut tower moved in quite a bit :(
297158km. I wanted to reach 300k :/. Everyone at the scene complimented on how clean it was and asked the mileage, and were shocked when I told them it almost made to 300,000.
I was delivering a birthday gift for a friend, and also going to meet RedBimmer93 to grab some parts for another friend
My light was green for a while, thank you dash cam for confirming that I didn't tree the light and get a 0.00 R/T lol
Sat in the back of a new cop car to shoot the itshay w/ the cops while waiting for the tow. I learned how much the options cost to install all of the lights and stuff on one of those
Explorers.  :o They got called out to a stabbing so I got let out - they wished me a happy birthday before ripping away with sirens on, pretty cool. The one officer used to own a WRB GR STi hatch, he told me.

Thankful I'm okay.

Onto the next.

Dang sorry dude! Glad everyone is okay. Time to replace it with a purple van.
The 3 is raw.  Lighter than more agile.  The 6 probably feels like a 747.  And by that contrast, my STI probably feels like the Hindenburg.  So GR's are like the International Space Station.
